Lorain County Girls Youth Basketball League Rules

Games will be played at Firelands High School

Gym #1- Main Competition Gym

Gym #2- Auxiliary Gym

Games will start on time or early. Warm-up time will depend on the game before.

(Minimum of 5 minute warm-up time before games start)

Youth League Rules

• Only two coaches are allowed on the bench

• Two 20-minute halves with continuous clock

• Clock will stop on the whistle in the last minute of the second half and timeouts (unless

you are up by 15 points or more)

• 2 timeouts per half (45 second) (Clock will start once timeout is over, except in the last

minute of half.) (45 second each)

• 2-minute halftime

• Tie games go to 1-minute OT if still tied stays tied

4th and 5th Grade Defensive Rules:

1. No full court press

2. No Trapping.

Trapping- intentionally doubling teaming an opponent.

Help side defense is permitted.

6th Grade Defensive Rules:

1. No full court press if up by 15

• 4th and 5th grade MAY shoot free throws from 12 ft.(But cannot cross the 12 ft. line.

• 6th grade MUST shoot free throws from 15 ft.

• The coach is responsible for the behavior of their team and their fans. Unsporting

behavior will not be tolerated and will result in a site manager or an official removing

fans.

• The host site will keep a book. Players get 6 fouls per game. After their 6th foul, the

player will foul out of the game. After 7 team fouls, teams will shoot 2 free throws.

• Game Admissions: Adults-$3.00, Students (8-17) $2.00,

Season:

• Tentative Regular Season: Nov. 24th, Dec. 8th, Dec. 15, 22, Jan. 12, 19, 26, Feb 2

• Tournament: TBD
