Wildfire Friend or Foe is a game meant to be played on the Holofil Holographic display. It Teaches users about man made and natural wildfires. The game takes around 5 minutes to complete and has 3 separate levels. The first is a natural fire caused by a lightning strike, the second is a manmade fire caused by a improperly put out campfire, and the last is a controlled burn where the player must ignite the grass when the wind is going towards them.

The Army Corps of Engineers, USACE, provides public engineering services in peace and war. The USACE aims to strengthen national security, energize the economy, and reduce disaster risks. One type of disaster risk that the USACE is facing is mega-fires.

Once a rare occurrence, mage fires are now becoming more common worldwide, primarily due to climate change. Mega fires are a threat to ecosystems, people, and property. “Over the past 40 years, the average number of acres of forested land consumed by wildfire each year in the United States has increased by 1000 percent. (National Geographic Society, 2022).”

The United States Army Corps of Engineers in Carters Lake hopes an entertaining game will help to encourage game participants to use fire safety principles in the wilderness. Additionally, they would like to expand the game participant’s knowledge of non-prescribed fires and how they work. The game will teach participants how to fight wildfires by presenting them with unique challenges in the safety of a gaming environment fires in a fun and interactive way.

This document will describe creating a playable game for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Before beginning the project, we were given a list of gameplay requirements we used to achieve USACE objectives.
