Fire Emblem is one of the most beloved games that Nintendo released. It introduced fans to the concept of careful planning – at any moment, a party-mate of the hero could fall in battle. It also faithfully follows the JRPG concept of turn-based combat and movement across the field. Fans will also remember the joy they felt in using the Heroes’ Crest on a character, enabling them to advance to the second class.
Fire Emblem Heroes is a free-to-download game that can now be played on PC. Like the previous versions of the game, you must embark on a quest around the world and forge alliances. These allies can become life-long friends and loyal comrades that will never conspire against you. There’s something different with this version of Fire Emblem – players will be able to control different mains from other titles in the series, along with their famous allies.
Step into the world of Fire Emblem and move through familiar locations from the series, along with new and unique maps designed for the game. This time, you won’t need a Switch nor a mobile phone to start your adventure. Let’s get to know more about Fire Emblem, and what you can expect to encounter while playing.
The game offers a never-ending story of its own making. The world has fallen into chaos, and the legendary heroes from different Fire Emblem games find themselves in a strange, interconnected world. New characters and old ones meet, including all the familiar heroes of old and champions of the present.
As of June 2020, it has been confirmed that there are 1,100 story stages available for players to explore. Clearing these will earn players orbs that are used to summon more. There are also new chapters added frequently into the game.
The game also features customized controls for the platform it’s being played on. Characters can also be summoned, pulling them from across the Fire Emblem universe and into your game! Develop your Heroes’ skills and – like in the series – elevate them into the Kings and Queens they were meant to be.
There is no shortage of battles in the Fire Emblem series. Take part in these turn-based battles and think hard about the strategy you need to move across the map and complete your goals. As with the other titles, you have to balance the strengths of the heroes against their weaknesses, while exploiting your opponent’s frailty to achieve victory. Move your army across the board while playing on PC, using the optimized controls made specifically for this game!
Got a hero that’s your favorite above all others? Strengthen them and lead them through glorious victory! Choose from a wide variety of heroes from the series. You can pair them like, for instance, Marth and Caeda or other dynamic partnerships from the series. Equip them with their legendary weapons and items from past titles and seize the battlefield!
If you’re tired of the main story and need a break, there are other modes the game offers for you to try. You can also use these modes to strengthen your allies and grind some needed levels. You can also use these levels to pit your best teams against fellow players and see which of you is the true master strategist! Build the most powerful party in Fire Emblem history!
The game is designed to delight dedicated fans and newbies alike to the series. Aside from the usual Fire Emblem heroes, players also get to meet new ones unique to the game! Like the classic titles, you have to get to know them first. Some heroes will outright work with your team There are also times when you have to prove your worth first by defeating them or by fulfilling certain conditions before you can recruit them!
Fire Emblem Heroes is a tactical role-playing game. It is made in the same tradition that all other games in the series were founded on. The collaboration between Nintendo and Intelligent Systems made this game possible. All the battles in-game are done in a 6x8 grid map which may appear smaller compared to older titles, but it is optimized for mobile platforms.
Tactical-RPG games often have players move characters from one grid to another, making decisions as they go. It’s the same in FE Heroes, where 4 characters are placed on the map before the battle begins. Your goal is to bring them close to the enemy to deal damage. Each character is able to move a certain number of tiles in the grid. Make sure you don’t accidentally expose your character to danger!
Each fighter in the game comes with their own unique set of skills and abilities, but that’s not all. The game also features new characters that weren't present in the series before. It gives mobile players the chance to become part of the FE series by embracing these characters. It can also become a bragging right as these characters aren’t available in any of the other Fire Emblem games.
Over the course of time, the story of every Fire Emblem game has always been about conquest and liberation. The house favored by the Emblem has risen above challenging circumstances, despite the many difficulties it faced because of war, a tyrannical conqueror, or any twist of fates. FE Heroes isn’t that different. It features a story that is continuously evolving – initially starting with the war between Embla and Askr, it has since moved on to a village besieged by dark elves. Even now, the story continues to unravel, with more chapters to be added soon.
The Fire Emblem series always prided itself on the compelling stories, but that’s not all there is in Heroes. There are different game modes players can try out for themselves. You can opt to test your skill against other summoners in the PvP battle arenas. You can also build up your characters by farming for XP and items in other game modes available within:
The Training Tower provides different scenarios which the player can play repetitively. Rewards and XP are awarded for your efforts, which you can then use to strengthen your allies. Each battle is procedurally different from the other which makes every battle unique.
Hero Battles is the mode where most players spend their time. Here, various battle scenarios are given for a limited time. Defeating the Heroes who oppose you in this mode gives you a chance to recruit them into your army.
Was it mentioned that this game is Free-to-Play? That’s right, aside from in-app purchases, there is nothing in the game that needs to be bought. Download and play the game for free!
Fire Emblem Heroes doesn’t deviate that far from its source material. Nintendo’s JRPG wunderkind has done magnificent work to port its gameplay from previous games on various Nintendo platforms. It used elements that worked well to its advantage making a game that truly deserves to be a part of the Fire Emblem franchise. To sum it all up in an easier to understand package, here’s what players can expect from this game:
Throughout its existence on various Nintendo gaming platforms, Fire Emblem has been a turn-based JRPG. This version is no different, building up on the same formula. You will not experience any hack-and-slash gameplay here, nor other action-RPG elements; you can only rely on quick, well-thought-out actions. You’ll also be able to see the map and act accordingly, survey the landscape, and see which enemies are on the verge of knocking a character out and which enemies you can defeat.
The game takes inspiration from the rock-paper-scissors type of battles and introduces color types. The color types determine a class’s weakness and strengths against an opponent of a certain color type. Your colors also determine how strong your character is. A team that is composed of heroes with different colors is recommended to ensure victory.
The game also features special attacks, which are the ultimate form of offensive ability used by heroes. These can tip the tide of battle in your favor if timed properly.
The game takes pride in a core element of Fire Emblem gameplay which is forging alliances. The alliances in this game can be customized according to your own choice of heroes. You can choose which ones to use from a menu that displays all available heroes in your party. You can also teach them new skills, try out new equipment on them, and level up their abilities through this menu.
As your heroes grow, they will also learn new and powerful skills that can help you in battle. Use these to improve your collection or win over the forces of the evil empire. Skill Points (SP) are used for obtaining new skills. In addition, skills are also divided into three different types: Weapon, Assist, and Special skills.
Experience the unique story the game has to offer, as well as the classic stories of familiar heroes throughout the franchise. Journey with them as more champions get added into the roster, all from different lores of the Fire Emblem series. Strengthen your bonds, and form the ultimate team to take on the forces of evil. Combine them and create your own unique team to take on the forces of the enemy.
The game offers varying modes of play for different players! Move from one map to another in the campaign section of the story, where you will meet powerful new characters to add to your team. You can also choose to test your mettle in the Arena, where you will fight against different rivals from around the world. Your ranking and score will determine the type of rewards you receive and how many of these you’re eligible for. Use them to strengthen your team!

Fire Emblem has always been a game of conquest. At the start, a malevolent kingdom like Gra or a leader like Grust always aims to conquer the land. A kingdom like Archanea usually stands in their way, and a hero – like Ryoma or other allies – hopes to end their conquest. Such is the law of this world, where might makes right and allies are a well sought-after resource.
Following the world of Fire Emblem Heroes, there are two kingdoms in war – the Emblian Empire marched to bring all worlds under its rule. The Askran Kingdom, however, is the wrench in its otherwise well-laid out plan. As a summoner, you have the power to call upon legendary heroes from the different worlds in the Fire Emblem universe. The Kingdom of Askr called for help, and you answered – along with the allies which you pulled into battle. Your skills as a tactician and a summoner earned you the right to become a member of the Order of Heroes.
There are other areas in the game that the player can visit. You can journey to the kingdoms of Nifl and Muspell. These kingdoms were at war against each other until finally, Surtr led Muspell to victory. Overwhelmed by the opposing force, Nifl had no choice but to surrender and its princess had to escape. Where else to seek refuge but under the banner of the Order of Heroes? Again, the task falls to the player to liberate the Nifl Kingdom and its people.
As the banner of the Order flew high on the ruins of Muspell, the triumphant party returned to Askr. But no sooner than they can catch their breath, the realm of the dead, Hel arrived. The realm is led by none other than legendary rulers returned to life – or a mockery of it – Lif and Thrasir. It proves to be a ruse as Hel orders his daughter, the princess Eir, to infiltrate the ranks of the Order amid the chaos. His command? Follow every order and gain all the trust of the heroes. In return,Eir can slaughter each and every hero who follows the banner of the Order.
Once again, the might of Hel proves inconsequential to the resolve of the heroes of the Order Leaving the unsightly realm in ruins, the heroes are called upon once more to investigate strange events happening in a remote village. It is said that the villagers find themselves plagued by strange dreams which have caused them many a restless night, as the nightmares plague their peaceful slumber.
As the Order approached the village, it appeared they are not immune to the strange affliction that the villagers are suffering from. Only half-awake and barely able to fight drowsiness, they find help in the unlikeliest of heroes – Peony, a light elf that can conjure pleasant dreams. Though it seems their problems with nightmares are gone, the war is only beginning.
With four books up so far and more stories planned, the Heroes are currently up against the magic dark elves who can control dreams. Stay tuned for more adventures and updates from the Fire Emblem Heroes team!
