I am the David L. Boren and L. J. Semrod Presidential Professor of Economics at the University of Oklahoma (Norman, OK). My main fields of research are development economics and international economics, focusing on the issues of structural change, long run development and growth, financial globalization, South-South trade and finance, multipolarity and great power competition, geoeconomics, and political economy of development.

I was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Montenegro in 2015-16 and at the Vilnius University in 2022. I have been a visiting professor at Denison University, University of Massachusetts-Amherst and Koc University (Istanbul). I served as the co-director of the University of Oklahoma Center for Peace and Development (2022-26). Currently, I am the Chair of the Department of Economics at the University of Oklahoma.
