Journalist
Hi! My name is Fiona Vosper and I am an editor for the sports section of the Evanstonian. I am a varsity athlete in both soccer and cross-country. Growing up, my younger brothers and I tried every sport available to us, which is where my passion for sports journalism started. On the paper, I went from writing sports recaps to starting my own column called Fiona's Focus that brings awareness to gender inequities in sports. I have been a woman in sports my whole life and have faced many issues that my male counterparts have not. This narrative is common for many female athletes, and women in the sports journalism field, which is why I am so passionate about my column. Outside of the Evanstonian and athletics I enjoy reading and traveling, Some of my favorite books (that I think everyone absolutely needs to read) include Normal People by Sally Rooney, The White Album by Joan Didion, and Beloved by Toni Morrison. I believe journalism is such an essential part of the development of the United States and in maintaining First Amendment rights, and my goal as a journalist is to continue this history and form of self-expression.
