Personal Utility Case (P.U.C.)
The Personal Utility Case (P.U.C.) is a 3D-printed case that combines different safety and utility devices. It includes a mechanical squeeze flashlight, a multitool/pocket knife, a container of pepper spray, a window breaker, and a safety alarm. It can be useful during hazardous situations (like severe weather), as a basic kit of utilities for an individual, or for general safety purposes.
The case was designed and modified using the computer program SolidWorks. The layout was created through sketches to determine placement of each component within the case. Size of the components were measured to figure out the dimensions needed for openings. It was 3D-Printed using PLA filament.
Testing was used to gauge if/how well objects fit with their openings and positioning in the case. Functionality was tested to see how well each component performed within P.U.C. After testing, dimensions and features of the case were modified to fix any problems.
Additionally, modifications and testing are still required to maximize the functionality of the components within the case.
