If you want more listening time and active noise cancellation for gym sessions, choose FIO MOTUS On-Ear Headphones:with Active; if you need an open-ear fit that keeps you aware of your surroundings, choose Syohoxi Ultra-Comfortable Open-Ear sport. For most gym use, I’d lean toward Syohoxi if awareness and a secure workout fit matter most, and toward FIO MOTUS if you want longer battery life and quieter listening.
• FIO MOTUS On-Ear Headphones:with Active: Its main strength is hybrid active noise cancellation paired with up to 55 hours of battery life. Its trade-off is the on-ear design, which does not leave the ear canal open to surrounding sound.
• Syohoxi Ultra-Comfortable Open-Ear sport: Its biggest strength is an open-ear, bone-conduction design intended to keep environmental sounds audible during workouts. Its trade-off is up to 8 hours of battery life, far less than FIO MOTUS.
• Choose FIO MOTUS if your priority is extended listening, noise reduction, or switching between music and movies.
• Choose Syohoxi if you want open ears, workout-focused construction, and a stated IP56 rating for sweat and rain.
• For a gym routine that includes instructions, outdoor running, or cycling, Syohoxi’s awareness-first design has the clearest practical advantage.
FIO MOTUS is an on-ear wireless headphone built around noise control and long listening sessions. Its hybrid active noise cancellation uses four ANC microphones, with feed-forward and feedback approaches described for reducing noise. That makes it the more suitable option of these two when you want to turn down distracting background sound rather than deliberately keep it audible. It is not a substitute for hearing your surroundings during outdoor exercise.
The FM30 uses 30 mm dynamic drivers, has a stated frequency response of 20 Hz to 40 kHz, and is described as producing balanced sound with deep bass. It also includes personalized spatial audio algorithms for music and movies. Those features point to a use case beyond the gym: listening at home, commuting, or watching video when an enveloping presentation is welcome. Bluetooth 5.4 supports wireless listening, and the product also lists wired connectivity.
How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
The listed weight is 160 grams, and the design is described as lightweight, foldable, and fitted with soft, removable ear shells. Up to 55 hours of battery life is the standout endurance figure here, although the actual listening duration can depend on use. Button controls offer a straightforward physical-control approach. Who should skip it: skip FIO MOTUS if keeping your ears open to gym instructions or outdoor traffic is a priority; its on-ear design and active noise cancellation favor reducing surrounding sound, not preserving awareness.
Syohoxi is the more workout-specific design. It uses bone-conduction drivers and an open-ear fit, so the ear canals remain uncovered while audio is delivered through contact around the cheekbones. The intended benefit is being able to listen while remaining more aware of nearby sounds, such as traffic alerts or a coach’s instructions. That makes it a strong candidate for someone searching for the best open ear earbuds for gym use, though it is technically a bone-conduction headphone rather than a conventional earbud.
The fit is built around lightweight open-ear hooks with a silicone coating. The listed weight is 28 grams, and the product description emphasizes a secure fit for active movements such as running, box jumps, and HIIT. IP56 protection is specified for sweat and rain, with an explicit note that the headphones are not suitable for swimming. The combination makes Syohoxi more directly aligned with sweaty workouts and outdoor exercise than FIO MOTUS, without making it a swimming option.
Battery life is listed as up to 8 hours, with a 2-hour charging time and a quick-charge claim of 30 minutes of playback after 5 minutes of charging. Bluetooth 5.3 provides wireless connectivity, and the listed Bluetooth range is 10 meters. The product also describes call noise cancellation intended to filter wind and gym noise; that is for calls, not a claim that the headphones cancel the surrounding sound you hear while listening. Who should skip it: skip Syohoxi if you want active noise cancellation, a long stretch between charges, or an enclosed listening experience that masks nearby noise.

• Best for calls while exercising → Syohoxi Ultra-Comfortable Open-Ear sport, based on its stated call noise cancellation. That feature is described as helping filter wind and gym noise.
• Best for a workout where awareness matters more than isolation → Syohoxi Ultra-Comfortable Open-Ear sport. For someone specifically looking for the best comfortable bone conduction headphones for gym use, its open-ear format is the more relevant design.
The “noise canceling headphone for gym” search points to FIO MOTUS if the goal is to reduce distraction during indoor listening. If the workout involves outdoor routes, nearby equipment, or instructions from others, Syohoxi’s open-ear approach is the more sensible match. Neither design wins every situation: they solve different listening problems.
For gym use that includes running, cycling, or needing to hear people nearby, I’d choose Syohoxi Ultra-Comfortable Open-Ear sport. Its open-ear design, 28-gram listed weight, and IP56 sweat-and-rain protection make it the more workout-focused option. I’d buy FIO MOTUS instead if I valued ANC and up to 55 hours of listening more than environmental awareness. My pick is Syohoxi for the gym because its core design fits that setting more directly.
Before choosing, think about what you need to hear during a typical workout. If you train in a busy gym and want to hear instructions or nearby activity, Syohoxi is designed to leave your ear canals open. If you exercise in a controlled indoor space and prefer fewer background distractions, FIO MOTUS offers active noise cancellation. Noise reduction and situational awareness are opposing priorities here, so this choice matters more than a small difference in Bluetooth version.
Also consider your workout length and charging habits. FIO MOTUS lists up to 55 hours of battery life, while Syohoxi lists up to 8 hours, plus a quick-charge feature. Those are maximum stated figures, not a guarantee of identical runtime in every use. If you regularly go several days between charges, FIO MOTUS has a clear specification advantage. If your sessions are shorter and you value a sports-oriented fit, Syohoxi’s endurance may be sufficient for your routine.
Finally, match the design to the activity. Syohoxi’s IP56 rating is described for sweat and rain, but it is not suitable for swimming. FIO MOTUS is foldable and supports wired as well as wireless connectivity, which may be useful when you want a more general-purpose headphone. Check the current price on Amazon if price is part of your decision; the more important question in this comparison is whether you want isolation or an open-ear workout fit.
They are the more workout-focused choice if you want an open-ear design, a lightweight listed build, and IP56 sweat-and-rain protection. FIO MOTUS may suit indoor workouts better when active noise cancellation and longer battery life matter more.
FIO MOTUS has hybrid active noise cancellation using four ANC microphones and is described as reducing noise interference. Syohoxi lists no listening noise control, although it does describe noise cancellation for calls.
No. Its IP56 rating is described for sweat and rain, and the product information says it is not suitable for swimming.
FIO MOTUS lists up to 55 hours of battery life. Syohoxi lists up to 8 hours, with a stated 2-hour charging time and a quick-charge feature.
