If you want extended battery life, deep bass, and hybrid active noise cancellation for long commutes or focused work sessions, choose FIO MOTUS Hybrid Active Noise; if you need seamless switching between two devices, a foldable design for travel, and the latest Bluetooth connectivity, choose Belkin SoundForm Surround.
• FIO MOTUS Hybrid Active Noise offers an industry-leading 130-hour playtime and advanced spatial audio but lacks a foldable design, making it bulkier for tight bags. It is ideal for power users who prioritize listening duration and immersive sound over portability.
• Belkin SoundForm Surround features a compact foldable build, multipoint connection for dual-device switching, and eco-friendly materials, though it sacrifices some bass depth and has half the battery life of its competitor. It is perfect for commuters and office workers who value convenience and multitasking.
The FIO MOTUS Hybrid Active Noise headphones are engineered for those who treat their audio gear as a primary tool for endurance. The standout feature here is the sheer longevity of the battery. With up to 75 hours in noise-canceling mode and a massive 130 hours in standard mode, these headphones eliminate the anxiety of running out of power during long flights, all-day study sessions, or extended gaming marathons. Even more impressive is the fast-charging capability: a mere ten-minute charge provides twelve hours of playback. This is a game-changer for anyone who forgets to plug in their device overnight or needs a quick top-up before heading out the door.
For audiophiles who crave detail, this model delivers with custom oversized 40mm dynamic drivers that support Hi-Res sound with a frequency response extending up to 40kHz. While many consumer headphones cap out at 20kHz, this extension allows for a wider range of detail in music and movies. The inclusion of personalized spatial audio creates a concert-like immersion, placing you right in the center of the soundscape. If you are someone who listens to complex orchestral pieces or enjoys the atmospheric depth of cinematic scores, the combination of deep bass, balanced mids, and clear highs will likely satisfy your critical ear.
However, this performance comes with a trade-off in physical form factor. The FIO MOTUS headphones utilize ultra-soft protein leather earcups designed for comfort over long periods, which suggests a larger, non-collapsible structure. They are built to stay on your head comfortably for hours, not necessarily to be tucked away into a tiny pocket. The carrying case provided is black and functional, but the lack of a folding mechanism means they require more space in your bag. This makes them less ideal for the person who packs light or needs to squeeze headphones into a cramped jacket pocket. Additionally, while they feature four microphones for excellent call quality and low-frequency noise reduction, the latency is listed at 200 milliseconds. While acceptable for most media consumption, competitive gamers might find this slightly higher than what they prefer for real-time action.

Ultimately, this product is for the heavy listener. Whether you are a student studying for finals, a traveler crossing time zones, or a home office worker who never wants to hear the hum of a refrigerator again, the FIO MOTUS is built to keep going. The app-controlled Custom EQ allows you to tailor the sound profile to your specific taste, ensuring that the "deep bass" isn't just a marketing term but a customizable experience. If your priority is getting the most out of every charge and experiencing high-resolution audio without interruption, this is the machine for you.
The Belkin SoundForm Surround headphones take a different approach, focusing heavily on versatility and modern connectivity standards. The defining characteristic here is the Bluetooth 5.4 technology paired with true multipoint connection. This allows you to connect to two devices simultaneously—say, your laptop for a work call and your phone for a text notification—and switch seamlessly between them without manually disconnecting and reconnecting. For professionals juggling multiple workflows, this feature alone transforms the user experience, removing the friction of constant manual pairing. The stability of the connection is reinforced by a robust 33-foot range, ensuring that your audio doesn't drop when you move around your home or office.
Comfort and portability are central to the design philosophy of the SoundForm Surround. Unlike the rigid structure of many noise-canceling competitors, these headphones feature a foldable design. This makes them significantly easier to pack for travel, whether you are tossing them into a carry-on or slipping them into a backpack alongside other essentials. The ear cups are described as pillowy soft, utilizing fabric and foam materials that provide a breathable alternative to synthetic leather. This is particularly beneficial for hot climates or for users who wear glasses and find pressure points from hard materials uncomfortable after a few hours. The adjustable headband ensures a fit for various head sizes, adding to the inclusive nature of the design.
From an audio perspective, the Belkin SoundForm Surround relies on 40mm drivers to deliver what they call "Signature Sound." While the frequency response tops out at the standard 20kHz, the focus seems to be on clarity and balance rather than extreme extension. The built-in microphone includes advanced environmental noise cancellation (ENC), which is distinct from the hybrid ANC found in the FIO MOTUS. This ENC is specifically tuned to isolate your voice during calls, filtering out background chatter so your colleagues can hear you clearly even in noisy environments. The battery life of 60 hours is substantial and will easily last through a week of daily commuting or several days of office use, but it does not match the marathon capabilities of the FIO MOTUS.
This product is best suited for the mobile professional or the casual commuter who values ease of use over raw specs. If you are looking for a headphone for jogging where you need something that won't bounce around too much due to a secure, lightweight fit, or if you are simply tired of managing cables and connections, the Belkin offers a streamlined solution. The use of recycled materials also appeals to the environmentally conscious buyer who wants durable gear without contributing to excess waste. However, if you are looking for the deepest possible bass or the absolute longest battery life available, you might find the trade-offs here limiting compared to the specialized FIO MOTUS model.
• Best for Battery Life → FIO MOTUS Hybrid Active Noise: With 130 hours of playtime versus 60 hours, the FIO MOTUS wins decisively for marathon listening sessions.
• Best for Travel Portability → Belkin SoundForm Surround: The foldable design makes the Belkin far easier to pack and transport than the bulkier FIO MOTUS.
• Best for Multitasking → Belkin SoundForm Surround: Multipoint Bluetooth 5.4 allows simultaneous connection to two devices, a feature the FIO MOTUS does not emphasize.
• Best for Audio Detail → FIO MOTUS Hybrid Active Noise: The 40kHz frequency response and Hi-Res certification offer a wider sonic spectrum than the standard 20kHz limit of the Belkin.
• Best for Call Clarity in Noise → Tie (Different Tech): Both offer noise control, but Belkin uses ENC for voice isolation while FIO MOTUS uses hybrid ANC for general environment suppression.
• Best for Fast Charging → FIO MOTUS Hybrid Active Noise: A 10-minute charge yielding 12 hours of playback is unmatched by the Belkin's charging specifications.
• Best for Eco-Conscious Buyers → Belkin SoundForm Surround: Constructed partially from recycled materials, appealing to sustainability-focused consumers.
• Best for Jogging → FIO MOTUS Hybrid Active Noise: The secure, over-ear fit and superior battery life make it the more reliable companion for long runs, though both are over-ear options.
After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I would personally buy the FIO MOTUS Hybrid Active Noise for my own daily rotation. The 130-hour battery life is not just a number; it represents a freedom from the charger that changes how I interact with my music and podcasts. Combined with the Hi-Res audio capabilities and the ability to customize the sound via an app, it feels like a more complete audio experience for someone who listens deeply. That said, if my primary need was hopping between my laptop and phone constantly while traveling, the Belkin SoundForm Surround would be the smarter choice. For a dedicated headphone for jogging, however, the FIO MOTUS offers the endurance and secure fit I need to get through longer distances without worrying about power or sound fidelity.
Both models are over-ear headphones, which can be bulky for intense workouts, but the FIO MOTUS offers a more secure fit for long durations due to its protein leather cups, while the Belkin is lighter and foldable for easy transport to the gym.
The FIO MOTUS provides up to 130 hours of playback in standard mode, whereas the Belkin SoundForm Surround offers 60 hours, making the FIO MOTUS the clear winner for extended listening without recharging.
Yes, the Belkin SoundForm Surround supports multipoint connection allowing you to link two devices simultaneously, while the FIO MOTUS focuses on a single stable Bluetooth 5.3 connection.
The FIO MOTUS utilizes hybrid active noise cancellation with four microphones to target low and mid-frequency engine hums, offering a deeper level of silence compared to the Belkin's standard active noise cancellation.
