What is a Hackathon?
A Hackathon is an event hosted by a single organization or a group of organizations that involves eligible individuals working together for a specified period to collaborate on a project. In most cases, a Hackathon is conducted in the form of a competition and the winners are identified based on clear and specific criteria.
There will be two categories of eligible persons: under 15 and over 15 years of age.

The Hackathon is available at NO COST to participants. However, participants are expected to ensure that they have access to a stable WiFi connection and a properly functioning technological device with a camera.
How many persons make up a team?
Teams should consist of 5 people. However, the number of participants per team may fluctuate due to the number of total participants.

All participants are required to have the following: a working technological device with a camera, access to stable WiFi and a quiet working space.
Is there support available?
There will be coordinators assigned to each team to ensure that the necessary support is provided.
What is the expected schedule?
The Fintech Hackathon encompasses seven sessions leading up to the Hackathon event. Participants are required to attend these sessions. You can visit the sessions page to view the road map of sessions!
When would I receive material to review in preparation for the hackathon?
It is anticipated that all participants will receive the respective material by July 25th, 2022. All participants are expected to pre-read the material before the event.
How are the winners selected?
During the event, the teams will be observed and assessed in the following categories: engagement, time management, challenges encountered, and how these challenges were resolved. The maximum number of points that can be awarded is 100 Points.

Who will be judging?
A Judging Panel of 5 judges has been carefully selected. These individuals have advanced academic qualifications and years of experience in either education, information technology, software development , or other contemporary technologies.
What are the prizes?

Who is keeping the intellectual property of my team’s proposed solution?
The solutions that are developed during the hackathon are considered public content and will therefore be available for further development by any or all parties involved.
What about confidentiality of information?
During the Hackathon, all recordings or photos of proceedings, any resources or material shared, and discussions held are considered confidential and are considered content belonging to the organizers.
If I am not happy with the proceedings, can I withdraw early and if so, how?
All participants are asked to inform their facilitator of any intention to withdraw to allow the facilitator to assist the participant with the withdrawal process. Any participant that has expressed their intent to withdraw will be asked to complete a form to document their reasons for withdrawing.
What is the problem we will be hacking to solve?
The teams will be asked to consider innovative solutions to address the abovementioned themes.
