A dirty bomb is dropped in New York City, turning it into a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Now folks are desperate for food, shelter, and safety. One couple attempts to make it through the apocalypse and happen upon another couple, in hopes to survive by sharing food and amenities. Soon the quartet happen upon a secret room untouched by the dirty bomb which fans of the original film will recognize. In the room are bottles of elixir filled with what looks to be some kind of yogurt paste. Hungry, the couples dig in, but soon they realize that something is off. They act more impulsively and savagely and their bodies begin to lose their consistency. As slime begins to ooze from their pores, the survivors realize that in order to stop from becoming a puddle of slime, they must kill.

this feels full circle to me, i loved slime city back in ye olden thymes, it's like running into an old friend you haven't seen in ages who's actually an oozing seeping flesh sac with a big wide gaping slime slit. it's not the same slime city i knew and i loved but i'll never say no to a little slime!
Man, I really appreciate the different bright, beautiful colours used for each of the slime people. They just look gorgeous...in an icky sort of way. I also liked the two Slime City songs. And the massacre was good. And pretty much any time the slime people were on screen. But the cult stuff still doesn't interest me. At all. I would've enjoyed this a lot more if it was just post apocalyptic and people became slimers because of radiation. Oh well. Still a fun enough movie.
Slime City Massacre, the sequel that took 22 years to drop on the scene doesn't disappoint. This movie finds the city itself in a post-apocalyptic hell. People living in an empty factory run by the biggest asshats around. There are also flashbacks with Zachary from Slime City. At first, nothing makes sense but by the end of the movie, everything makes sense, more or less.
Essentially Street Trash (wait,did I just say this was an original idea?) but after a bomb reduces a metropolitan area into tent city. The rainbow on this oil-slick is how it mashes elements of post-apocalyptic, satanic cult,japanese body horror and Sentai into the under-rated Melt genre (Ok, I think that covers it). Nothing like day-glow slime dripping power rangers taking out gas-mask mercenaries with their organic implements of bodily harm. If you come in with low expectations this one will probably warm the cockles of your heart more than ectoplasm laced wine.

Though touted as a gore film, Slime City is really more squishy and grotesque in a cheaper Brian Yuzna sort of fashion, while the filmmakers really manage to pull out all the stops for the head-spinning finale. Neither of the leads did much beyond a handful of additional no-budget horror titles, but they're surprisingly good with the latter particularly excelling in a role that continues to surprise as it evolves. You do get a bit of the red stuff splashing around here and there, but mostly you get, well, a lot of slime.
The previous Slime City commentary is carried over here for the Blu-ray release, but there's also a brand new one with Lamberson as well serving as an updated, more detailed revision of sorts as he goes deeper into the filming locations, the development of the script, and the film's history on home video. The narrative is about a beleaguered artist who rents a cheap apartment house. As the story unfolds we see this apartment building was once home to a cult which takes satisfaction in turning humans into slime and then locating a host body for all of this slime. The plot covers all of the classic subplots, such as, reincarnation, murder, suicide, and Satanism all the while never losing its coherency.
