FindsLog is a metal detecting records app designed to help users privately record finds, detecting sessions, permissions, fields, photos, notes, GPS trails, and related detecting information.
This privacy policy explains what information FindsLog uses, how it is stored, and how users can control their data.
FindsLog may allow users to save the following types of information:
Find records, including find name, type, material, notes, detector details, signal information, photos, and dates.
Location information, including GPS coordinates, detecting session trails, field boundaries, permission areas, rally areas, and map positions.
Photos selected or taken by the user.
Permission and landowner-related records entered by the user.
Backup and export files created by the user.
App settings and preferences.
The information saved in FindsLog is entered, created, or selected by the user.
FindsLog uses location access to allow users to:
Save find locations.
Record detecting session trails.
Display the user’s current position on the map.
Link finds, permissions, rallies, fields, and detecting sessions to locations.
Location data is used for the app’s detecting record features. FindsLog does not sell location data.
Depending on the user’s device settings, location access may be used while the app is open or while a detecting session is being recorded. Users can change or disable location permissions at any time in their device settings.
FindsLog may request access to the camera or photo library so users can attach images to find records, permissions, rallies, or related records.
Photos are used only for the features chosen by the user.
FindsLog is designed as a privacy-focused app. User records are stored locally on the user’s device unless the user chooses to export, share, back up, or restore their data.
If the user creates a backup or export file, that file may be saved to a location chosen by the user, such as device storage or a cloud storage service available on their device.
FindsLog does not operate a central public database of user finds.
FindsLog does not sell user data.
User information is shared only when the user chooses to do so, for example by:
Exporting a find report.
Creating a backup file.
Sharing a PDF, CSV, image, or other export.
Saving backup files to a cloud storage provider selected by the user.
Any third-party cloud storage service used by the user is governed by that provider’s own privacy policy.
FindsLog may use device services and third-party platform services required for app functionality, such as:
Maps and location services.
App store billing or purchase services.
Device storage, camera, and photo selection features.
Cloud storage providers selected by the user for backup/export purposes.
These services may process data according to their own privacy policies.
FindsLog is designed to keep user records private by default. Users are responsible for protecting access to their own device, backups, and exported files.
No method of electronic storage is completely secure, so users should take care when exporting, sharing, or backing up sensitive location information.
Users can:
Edit or delete records inside the app.
Disable location access through their device settings.
Delete the app to remove locally stored app data from the device.
Choose whether to create, store, or share backup/export files.
FindsLog is not specifically directed at children. The app is intended for metal detecting record keeping and outdoor hobby use.
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
