1. Introduction
FindMyChild ("we," "our," or "the App") is a family safety application designed to help parents and legal guardians monitor the location of their minor children for safety purposes. We are committed to protecting the privacy of all users, especially children under 13. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
2. COPPA Compliance & Parental Consent
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The App is designed for use by:
• Parents/Legal Guardians (18+ years)
• Minor children under parental supervision
Before any child data is collected, we require verifiable parental consent through:
• Account registration by a parent/guardian (18+)
• Explicit device pairing authorization
• Mandatory legal guardian verification during setup
Parents have full control over their child's data and can review, modify, or delete it at any time through the App settings.
3. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide our safety services:
From Parent/Guardian Accounts:
• Name and relationship to child
• Email address (for authentication)
• Device identifiers
From Child Devices (with parental consent):
• Real-time location data (GPS coordinates, accuracy, altitude)
• Movement data (speed, heading, activity type)
• Device information (battery level, OS version)
• Timestamps of location updates
We do NOT collect:
• Social security numbers
• Financial information
• Browsing history or app usage outside our App
• Videos, or media files
• Contacts or messages
• Any personal information beyond what's listed above
4. How We Use Collected Information
We use the collected information solely for the following purposes:
• Providing real-time location tracking for child safety
• Displaying location history (retained for 30 days only)
• Sending geofence entry/exit notifications
• Delivering emergency SOS alerts
• Detecting child activity (walking, driving, stationary)
• Monitoring device battery status
• Improving app performance and reliability
We do NOT use your data for:
• Advertising or marketing
• Selling or sharing with third parties
• Profiling or behavioral analysis
• Any purpose other than child safety
5. Data Storage, Security & Encryption
Your data security is our priority:
• All data is stored on Google Firebase/Cloud Platform with enterprise-grade security
• Data transmission uses TLS/SSL encryption (HTTPS)
• Location data is encrypted in transit
• Access is restricted to authorized personnel only
• We implement multi-factor authentication and access controls
• Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
• Automatic data deletion after 30 days (location history)
• Secure pairing codes with time-limited validity
Data Retention:
• Location history: 30 days (auto-deleted)
• Account data: Until account deletion
• Geofence data: Until manually deleted
• Notifications: 7 days
6. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do NOT sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information or location data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Limited data sharing occurs only in these circumstances:
• Service Providers: Firebase/Google Cloud (data hosting) - bound by strict confidentiality agreements
• Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government request
• Safety Emergencies: To protect the safety of a child in imminent danger
Location data is ONLY accessible to:
• The parent/guardian who paired the device
• The child whose device is being tracked
• No one else has access to your family's location data
7. Parental Rights & Control
As a parent/guardian, you have complete control over your child's data:
• Review: View all collected data about your child
• Modify: Update or correct any information
• Delete: Permanently remove your child's data
• Download: Export all data in JSON format
• Unpair: Disconnect child device at any time
• Refuse Collection: Decline to provide consent (app won't function)
To exercise these rights:

2. Select "Download My Data" or "Delete My Data"

8. Children's Privacy & Transparency
We believe in transparency with children:
• Parents must inform their child about location tracking
• The child app clearly displays tracking status
• Children can see when location is being shared
• We encourage open family communication about app usage
• Location tracking should be used for safety, not surveillance
We do NOT:
• Collect more data than necessary
• Condition app features on providing extra data
• Share child data with advertisers
• Use child data for profiling or targeting
9. Location Permissions & Tracking
The App requires specific permissions to function:
• Location (Always): Required for continuous background tracking
• Notifications: For alerts and safety notifications
• Battery Optimization: Exemption to ensure reliable tracking
Parents can:
• Pause tracking at any time
• View tracking status in real-time
• Receive notifications when tracking stops
• Control which alerts they receive
Children can:
• See when location is being shared
• Use SOS button for emergencies
• Cannot disable tracking (parental control)
10. Data Deletion & Account Termination
You can delete your data at any time:
Partial Deletion:
• Unpair a child device (removes that child's data)
• Delete location history
• Remove specific geofences
Complete Deletion:
1. Settings → Delete My Data
2. Type "DELETE" to confirm
3. All data is permanently erased within 30 days
What gets deleted:
• All account information
• All location history
• All geofences and alerts
• All device pairings
• All notifications
Backups are purged within 90 days. Deletion is irreversible.
11. International Data Transfers
Our services use Google Firebase, which may store data in multiple regions. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of data to countries where Firebase operates. We ensure all transfers comply with applicable data protection laws including GDPR and COPPA.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make material changes:
• We will notify you via email and in-app notification
• The "Effective Date" at the top will be updated
• Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
• You can always review the latest version in the App
For significant changes affecting children's data, we will obtain renewed parental consent.
13. Your Rights Under GDPR (EU Users)
If you are in the European Union, you have additional rights:
• Right to Access: Request a copy of your data
• Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
