Finding Noah’s Ark
Finding Noah’s Ark
Katherine DeAntoneo
The Biblical Tale of Noah’s Ark:
The story of Noah’s Ark is part of Genesis 6-9, in which God commands Noah to build an ark to save his family and a pair of every animal species from a coming flood. According to the Bible, after the floodwaters receded, the Ark came to rest on the Mountains of Ararat. This has been the traditional location people have focused on when searching for the Ark, as the Bible specifically mentions "Ararat" as the place where the Ark came to rest.
However, there are other cultural flood myths across the world, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, which also describes a great flood and a boat, indicating that the flood narrative is a recurring theme in human history. These similarities suggest the possibility of a real event or a shared memory that shaped these mythologies.
