The artist I have chosen was Gabriel Orozco. I liked how he was able to take his heritage and pursue it in his art. He is from Mexico and produces art that expresses his overall life. I enjoyed learning about how important each piece he creates takes so much thought and is a complete process for Orozco. Orozco says, "My work is not a media thing or a rock concert or a political demonstration," but instead he refers to his work as him trying to be a realist in his work. He takes great pride in pursuing humor, but not flirting with the art world or engaging with the frivolity of the market.
