In addition, from our “three perspectives,” we learned that people may have different views about tradition and modern life. However, we all agree that Wau Batik is important and should be preserved because it is part of our culture and heritage.
While traditional Wau Batik remains a symbol of our heritage, a new modern preservation effort is taking shape. Today, the same intricate Seni Wat Sobek tools and wax painting techniques are being applied to canvas art. By moving from the traditional kite shape to a contemporary canvas, this craft becomes more accessible to the younger generation. This is the approach we are working on in a more efficient creative way.
This modern "Batik Painting" activity allows youth to engage with traditional tools in a way that fits modern lifestyle and home decor, ensuring the skills of the master craftsmen are not lost but repurposed for a new era.
