If you want a high-capacity, multi-pack solution for standard residential systems that demands frequent replacement for peak performance, choose Filtrete 20x25x1; if you need a deep-bed, single-unit filtration system designed for long-term durability and minimal maintenance cycles, choose HEALTHY CLIMATE Lennox X6670.
• Filtrete 20x25x1: Delivers consistent MERV 11 capture with a massive 6-filter supply pack and smart app integration, but requires strict 90-day changeovers to maintain efficiency.
• HEALTHY CLIMATE Lennox X6670: Offers a substantial 4.38-inch depth for extended life up to one year and includes a cleaning cloth for setup, though it is sold as a single unit rather than a bulk pack.
• Who it's for: The Filtrete pick suits homeowners who prefer buying in bulk and managing a regular quarterly schedule, while the Lennox pick is ideal for those seeking "install and forget" reliability for up to twelve months.
The Filtrete 20x25x1 is engineered for the homeowner who values consistency and volume. This product arrives as a six-pack of pleated filters, each rated MERV 11 with an MPR of 1000. If your household deals with dust, lint, or pet dander, this filter targets those specific allergens effectively. The inclusion of the "Certified asthma and allergy-friendly" designation suggests a focus on health-conscious environments where air purity is non-negotiable.
What truly sets this option apart is the ecosystem around the hardware. The brand offers a Smart App compatible with iOS and Android, allowing users to set reminders for 30, 60, or 90 days. This feature is crucial because the manufacturer explicitly states that for optimal performance, the filter must be changed at least once every 90 days. Without that discipline, the MERV 11 rating may not deliver the promised results. The physical design is a standard thin profile (actual size 19.68 x 24.68 x 0.81 inches), making it a drop-in replacement for most standard furnace, air conditioner, or HVAC systems without requiring structural modifications.
This product is best suited for active households that are comfortable with a recurring maintenance rhythm. Because it comes in a pack of six, it naturally aligns with a quarterly change schedule across multiple units or simply provides a year's worth of stock for a single large home. However, it is not the right choice for someone who wants to minimize the number of times they climb into the attic or crawl space. The thin 0.81-inch frame means less surface area for particle trapping compared to deeper filters, necessitating that frequent swap-out to prevent airflow restriction. If you dislike the idea of changing filters four times a year, this thick-volume approach might feel like too much work, even if the per-unit cost is competitive.

In stark contrast to the thin, frequent-swap model, the HEALTHY CLIMATE Lennox X6670 is built around longevity and depth. With an actual thickness of 4.38 inches, this is a deep-bed media filter designed to last significantly longer than standard pleated options. The manufacturer claims it can last up to a year, depending on the condition of the home, with recommended replacement intervals between 6 and 12 months. This depth allows it to handle a wide range of airborne particles, capturing impurities as small as 1.0 to 3.0 microns while maintaining its MERV 11 rating.
The design philosophy here leans heavily on convenience and compatibility. It is a universal fit for specific models like the X6660 HCC16-28 Air Cleaners, as well as various Lennox, Carrier, and Honeywell HVAC systems. A unique feature included in the box is a cleaning cloth, intended to wipe down the furnace or air handler before installation. This attention to detail ensures that when you finally install the new filter, the surrounding area is free of debris, ensuring optimal airflow immediately. Unlike the Filtrete, which relies on a smartphone app for reminders, this filter relies on its physical capacity to reduce the frequency of human intervention.
This product is the clear winner for boat owners and remote property managers who cannot easily access their equipment for quarterly maintenance. The ability to go up to a full year without touching the filter is a game-changer for seasonal properties or vessels where accessing the HVAC unit might be difficult or require specific weather windows. It is also ideal for busy professionals who view filter changes as a chore to be minimized. However, buyers should note that this is a single-unit purchase. There is no bulk pack mentioned in the specifications, meaning you buy one, wait nearly a year, and then replace it again. It is a premium longevity play rather than a bulk economy play.

After weighing the specifications and real-world application scenarios, I would personally buy the HEALTHY CLIMATE Lennox X6670. While the Filtrete 20x25x1 is a solid, reliable choice for standard homes, the sheer depth of the Lennox filter makes it superior for anyone who values time over the convenience of a bulk pack. The 4.38-inch thickness is not just a number; it represents a significantly larger surface area for capturing particles and extending the life of the unit. For me, the inclusion of the cleaning cloth and the promise of a year-long service interval make this the smarter investment for minimizing disruption. This is particularly true for boat owners, where access to the HVAC system is often limited by space and weather; having a filter that lasts a full season without needing a check-up is invaluable peace of mind.
Both are MERV 11, but the dimensions differ significantly. The Filtrete is a standard 20x25x1 inch thin filter, while the HEALTHY CLIMATE is a deep 16x25x5 inch filter designed for specific cleanings units and compatible with certain Lennox, Carrier, and Honeywell systems.
The Filtrete 20x25x1 is certified to capture microparticles as small as 0.3 to 1.0 microns, whereas the HEALTHY CLIMATE Lennox X6670 targets particles in the 1.0 to 3.0 micron range, despite both holding a MERV 11 rating.
Yes. The Filtrete requires changing every 90 days, potentially four times a year, while the HEALTHY CLIMATE is designed to last up to 12 months with only occasional quick checks, significantly reducing labor.
No, the Filtrete Smart App is integrated specifically for tracking the 30-, 60-, or 90-day schedules of Filtrete products. You would need to rely on manual calendar reminders for the HEALTHY CLIMATE filter's annual cycle.
