Why this book?
This book, *Philosophy of Teacher Ghebrezgi Libona*, emerges from a lifelong desire to explore the meaning of life through the lens of Eritrean culture, language, and experience. It is not merely a philosophical inquiry in the Western sense, but a dialogic journey—a conversation between memory, tradition, and reason.
The voice of Teacher Ghebrezgi, though fictional, is grounded in reality. He represents a composite of wisdom bearers: farmers who till with thought, elders who speak with silence, and poets who sing with sorrow. His questions and reflections aim to bring philosophy back to its origins—as a love of wisdom rooted in the everyday.
Eritrea's struggle for dignity, and its resilience form the fertile soil from which this book grows. Each chapter seeks to uncover not abstract truths, but grounded insights that matter in how we live, relate, and remember.
I dedicate this work not only to the war-disabled veterans of Eritrea but also to those thinkers—known and unknown—who have carried the burden of reflection without reward, asking, always: *Who are we? What are we to do? And why does it matter?*
May this book offer companionship to those seeking thoughtful life in our shared land.
