FileX provides this Privacy Policy to explain how our mobile application handles user information. FileX is built as an offline-first file management utility designed to respect user privacy. We do not collect, harvest, sell, or upload your personal files.
On-Device File Processing: FileX accesses files, directories, documents, media (photos, audio, videos), application packages (APKs), and ZIP archives solely to perform user-requested local actions (browsing, opening, copying, moving, renaming, extracting, compressing, and calculating storage analytics). All operations execute locally on your device.
No Remote File Transmission: We do not operate external file servers. File contents, directory structures, and filenames are never transmitted over the internet to us or any unauthorized third party.
User Preferences: App settings (such as Dark/Light theme mode, hidden files visibility, and default layout styles) are stored locally on your device using Android Shared Preferences.
To deliver standard file management functions across Android OS versions, FileX requires specific system permissions:
All Files Access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Required on Android 11 (API level 30) and higher to permit browsing, organizing, moving, creating folders, compressing, and extracting files outside app-specific sandboxes across internal shared storage and removable SD cards.
Read / Write External Storage (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Required on Android 10 and lower to read and modify files in shared device storage.
Query All Packages (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES): Utilized exclusively to inspect installed applications and standalone .apk files for accurate application category categorization and package details.
FileX integrates select open-source libraries and platform SDKs to optimize performance:
Image & Media Previews (Coil): Generates and caches thumbnail previews entirely in your device's local cache directory. Thumbnail cache can be cleared anytime in App Settings.
Local Database (Android Jetpack Room): Stores local metadata for your Recycle Bin / Trash and Favorited items directly on your device.
Advertising (Google AdMob): If ads are enabled in specific builds, Google AdMob may collect standard device identifiers, IP addresses, and diagnostic data in compliance with Google's Privacy Policy to serve personalized or non-personalized advertisements.
Recycle Bin: Files moved to the FileX Trash folder remain in local app storage until you choose to restore them or delete them permanently.
Uninstalling the App: Removing FileX deletes all local app preferences, cache, and database records stored within the app’s internal sandbox.
FileX does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. Because our core utility functions entirely offline without user account registration, no identifiable personal data is gathered.
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Any updates will be reflected by revising the "Last updated" date at the top of this document.
