FileForge is a mobile XML, JSON and text-file editor developed by EpicFailWinner.
This Privacy Policy explains how FileForge handles information when you use the application, including information associated with advertising services provided by Google.
FileForge is designed to work primarily locally on your device.
EpicFailWinner does not operate a FileForge server that receives or stores the contents of the files you edit.
You do not need to create an account or provide your name, email address or other personal information to use FileForge.
FileForge does, however, include third-party advertising and privacy-management technology provided by Google. These services may process certain device, advertising and usage information as described in the Advertising and Third-Party Services section below.
FileForge allows you to select, open, edit and save files stored on your device or made available through Android's document system.
Files you open in FileForge are processed locally on your device.
FileForge does not upload your XML, JSON, text or other supported files to an EpicFailWinner or FileForge-operated server.
Where supported by Android, FileForge may remember permission to access a file that you previously opened. This allows features such as Recent Files and session restoration to work.
FileForge only accesses files that you choose to open or create through the application.
The contents of your documents are not provided to Google AdMob for advertising purposes by FileForge.
FileForge may store information locally on your device to provide features including:
Recently opened files
Open editor tabs
Active tab
Cursor position
Scroll position
Editor settings
File encoding information
Recovery information for unsaved documents
This information is stored locally within FileForge's application storage.
FileForge may create temporary recovery copies of documents that contain unsaved changes.
These recovery files are stored within FileForge's private application storage and are used to help restore your work if the application is unexpectedly closed or terminated.
Recovery data is not uploaded to EpicFailWinner.
Recovery information may be removed after a document is successfully saved or when FileForge is uninstalled.
FileForge may request access required to open, edit and save documents through Android's file and document systems.
FileForge does not request unrestricted access to your files simply for the purpose of collecting information.
Access is used to provide FileForge's file-editing functionality.
FileForge uses Google AdMob and the Google Mobile Ads SDK to provide advertising.
Advertising may be displayed on non-editor areas of FileForge, such as the Home screen.
Advertising is not displayed within the main FileForge editor.
Google Mobile Ads may automatically process information including:
IP address, which may be used to estimate general location
Interactions with the application and advertising
Device and advertising identifiers
Diagnostic and performance information
Information used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention
This information is processed by Google and its advertising services rather than being stored on a FileForge-operated server.
The types of adverts shown and the information used to select them may depend on your location, privacy choices and applicable advertising rules.
EpicFailWinner does not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
FileForge uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage advertising privacy choices where required.
For users in regions including the United Kingdom, European Economic Area and Switzerland, FileForge may display a privacy message asking you to make choices about the use of personal data and device storage for advertising purposes.
Your choices may affect whether personalised advertising can be shown.
Where required, FileForge provides a Privacy & ad choices option that allows you to review or change previously selected advertising privacy choices.
Your privacy choices may be stored so that they can be remembered between application sessions.
FileForge does not currently use a separate general-purpose analytics service such as Google Analytics to analyse how users use the FileForge editor.
However, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may process interaction and diagnostic information for purposes including advertising, analytics, measurement and fraud prevention.
FileForge does not use the contents of your XML, JSON or text documents to create advertising profiles.
Advertising and consent-related functionality in FileForge is provided using Google services including:
Google AdMob
Google Mobile Ads SDK
Google User Messaging Platform
Google processes information under its own privacy policies, terms and data-handling practices.
Users can also manage certain advertising and privacy settings through their Google account and Android device settings.
FileForge may contain links to external services, including the EpicFailWinner Discord community.
When you choose to open an external link, it may open in another application or web browser.
External websites, applications and services operate under their own privacy policies. FileForge and EpicFailWinner are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
EpicFailWinner Discord:
EpicFailWinner does not sell or rent personal information.
FileForge does not send the contents of the documents you edit to EpicFailWinner, Google AdMob or other advertising providers for advertising purposes.
Certain device, advertising, interaction and diagnostic information may be transmitted to or processed by Google through the Google Mobile Ads SDK and associated advertising services.
This processing is used for purposes such as displaying advertising, measuring advertising performance, analytics and preventing invalid or fraudulent activity.
FileForge stores settings, recent-file information, session information and recovery information locally on your device.
You can remove this locally stored application data through Android's application settings.
Uninstalling FileForge will normally remove FileForge's private application data, including locally stored preferences and recovery information.
Files that you deliberately saved elsewhere on your device are not deleted when FileForge is uninstalled.
Information processed independently by Google through its advertising services is subject to Google's own retention and deletion policies and may not be removed simply by uninstalling FileForge.
FileForge is a general-purpose file-editing utility and is not specifically designed or directed toward children under the age of 13.
EpicFailWinner does not knowingly request personal information from children through a FileForge-operated account or server.
Advertising displayed through FileForge is subject to the audience, privacy and advertising settings configured for the application and the requirements of the relevant advertising platform.
FileForge is designed to minimise the amount of document-related information that leaves your device.
Keeping file editing, recovery information and session information local reduces the need to transmit potentially sensitive document contents over the internet.
Information exchanged with Google advertising services is handled separately by Google's services.
No software, network or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
This Privacy Policy may be updated as FileForge gains additional functionality or if the third-party services used by FileForge change.
For example, this policy may be updated if FileForge introduces additional advertising services, analytics, cloud storage, account functionality, subscriptions or other features that affect how information is handled.
The date at the top of this page indicates when the Privacy Policy was last revised.
