Privacy Policy for FileForge
Last updated: 2026-8-02
FileForge ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information when you use FileForge.
1. Overview
FileForge is a local file manager application designed to help you browse, organize, and manage files on your device.
FileForge is designed to work primarily on your device. We do not upload your personal files to our servers.
2. Information We Collect
FileForge does not require you to create an account.
Depending on the features you use, FileForge may process the following data locally on your device:
- File and folder names
- File paths
- File types and metadata such as size, date, and preview information
- App preferences and settings
- Favorites, recent folders, or cached data stored locally on your device
We do not intentionally collect your personal files for remote storage or cloud syncing.
3. File Access
FileForge needs access to your device storage in order to:
- Browse files and folders
- Copy, move, rename, and delete files
- Show file details and previews
- Extract or compress archives
- Open supported media and document files
All file operations are performed for the purpose of core app functionality.
4. Installed Apps Information
FileForge includes an Apps Manager feature that can list the other apps installed on your device (App name, package name, version, size and similar metadata) so you can view, back up, or uninstall them.
This information is read directly from your device using standard Android system APIs and is not sent anywhere — it is used only to display the Apps Manager screen and to perform the actions you request there.
5. App Lock (Biometric Authentication)
FileForge may let you lock certain content (such as the Vault) behind your device's fingerprint, face, or PIN/pattern unlock.
This uses Android's built-in biometric authentication system. FileForge only receives a yes/no result from your device — it never receives, stores, or has access to your actual fingerprint, face data, or any other biometric data.
6. Shizuku / Advanced Access
FileForge may offer optional advanced access through Shizuku.
If you enable this feature:
- You do so manually and voluntarily
- FileForge use it only for the advanced actions you request
- FileForge does not enable Shizuku automatically
Shizuku-based access may be used to help manage restricted directories and advanced file operations.
7. Purchases and Donations
FileForge may offer:
- Pro upgrades
- Donations
- Ads
These transactions are processed through Google Play Billing.
We do not collect or store your payment card details. Payment handling is managed by Google Play.
Purchase status may be stored locally on your device to restore your Pro access after reinstall or restart.
8. Third-Party Services and Libraries
FileForge may use third-party libraries and services to support features such as:
- billing
- file previews
- image loading
- background tasks
- advanced file access
These libraries may process some technical information locally or as required for the feature to work.
We do not sell your data to advertisers.
9. Data Storage
FileForge may store the following locally on your device:
- app settings
- sorting preferences
- view preferences
- favorites
- recent items
- cached thumbnails or metadata
- Pro purchase state
This data remains on your device unless you uninstall the app or clear app data.
10. Sharing of Information
FileForge does not intentionally share your personal files with third parties.
FileForge may only access external services when you explicitly use features such as:
- Google Play Billing
- email feedback
- optional advanced access tools you enable yourself
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to keep local data safe. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
You are reresponsible for how you manage, copy, delete, and share your own files.
12. Children’s Privacy
FileForge is not intended to knowingly collect personal data from children.
If you believe a child has provided data through the app, please contact us.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
