Files Manager ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how your information is collected, used, and safeguarded when you use our mobile application Files Manager (package name: com.filesmanager.app) (the "App").
Please read this policy carefully. By downloading and using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Important Notice: Strict Local Data Processing
Unlike cloud-based services, Files Manager is a local-first utility application.
- Your Files Remain Yours: All actions performed on your files (such as browsing, organizing, moving, converting, scanning, compressing, deleting, and vaulting) are executed entirely on your physical device.
- Local Storage Databases: The App stores user settings, search history, file bookmarks, recent files metadata, and secure vault configurations locally on your device in a secure offline database (SQLite/Room). None of this metadata is transmitted or shared.
- No File Uploads: We do not host, store, transfer, or upload your documents, images, videos, audio, or any other files to our servers or any third-party cloud services.
2. Permissions We Request and How They Are Used
To function as a fully featured file management utility, the App requires certain Android permissions. These permissions are used exclusively to deliver the core functionalities of the App:
A. Storage & File Access (High-Risk/Sensitive Permissions)
- MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (All Files Access): Required on Android 11 (API 30) and above to allow you to browse, search, copy, move, delete, rename, and perform clean-up operations on all files and folders across your device's storage. Without this permission, core file explorer features will not function.
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Required on Android 10 and below for basic file access and management.
- Granular Media Permissions (Images, Video, Audio, and Visual User Selected): On Android 13 and above, we request specific permissions (including READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, and READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED) to access and present your photos, videos, and music files in sorted media categories.
B. Application Management
- REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES: Enables the App to install applications from APK files stored on your local device upon your explicit request.
C. Local Networking & Web Share
- INTERNET / ACCESS_WIFI_STATE / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to enable the Remote Web Access feature. This allows you to set up a secure, temporary local HTTP web server on your device so you can view or transfer files over your local Wi-Fi network from a desktop browser, and to check network status for loading ads. No data is sent over the external internet; file transfer is strictly localized within your home/office network.
D. Camera & Document Scanning
- CAMERA: Required to capture photos of physical paper documents directly through your device's camera for the Document Scanner tool. The captured photos are processed and converted purely locally on your device to generate the final PDF file. We do not transmit or store camera data or scanned documents to any third parties.
E. Advertising Identifiers
- com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID: Requested to access the device's Google Advertising ID. This identifier is used solely by Google AdMob to deliver advertising and perform basic diagnostics.
3. Secure Vault, Trash, and Cryptography
- On-Device Cryptography: The App provides a secure vault feature to encrypt and safeguard sensitive files locally on your physical device using Android's standard cryptographic libraries (androidx.security:security-crypto).
- PIN Protection: The Secure Vault is protected by a PIN code created by you. We do not collect, store, or transmit your secure passwords, PINs, or local encryption keys. We have no access to them and cannot recover your vault data if your local PIN is forgotten. No biometric permissions or biometric credentials are used or requested.
- Trash & Local Background Deletion: The App includes a Trash folder where deleted files are held. The App uses Android's local background scheduling system (WorkManager) to run periodic background cleanups entirely on-device, permanently deleting files that have been in the Trash for more than 30 days. No data is sent to external servers during this background task.
- Digital Signatures & Watermarks (PDF Signer): The App provides a PDF Signer tool that allows you to draw signatures directly on your screen and position them on PDF pages. The signature path/drawing is processed and overlaid onto the PDF document entirely on-device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your hand-drawn signature bitmaps or text watermarks; they remain embedded strictly inside your locally compiled PDF files.
4. Third-Party Services and Analytics
To support the App's continuous maintenance, optimization, and development, we partner with third-party service providers. These services may gather technical device data in accordance with their respective privacy policies:
A. Advertising (Google AdMob)
We display ads using Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use unique identifiers associated with your device (such as the Advertising ID) to deliver targeted ads and analyze ad performance.
- Consent Management (UMP): In compliance with global privacy regulations (such as GDPR), we use Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your explicit consent for personalized advertising. You can review or change these choices in the App settings at any time.

B. Configuration & Services (Google Firebase)
We use Firebase services (specifically Firebase Remote Config) to adjust App parameters and maintain application stability. Firebase may collect anonymous technical diagnostic parameters (such as device model, OS version, and app configurations).

5. Information Disclosure & Sharing
We do not sell, trade, rent, or distribute your personal information or local files to third parties. Your data is strictly kept on-device, except for advertising and diagnostic data collected by the third-party platforms detailed in Section 4.
6. Children's Privacy
Our App does not knowingly collect or request personal data from children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately so we can take necessary corrective actions.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our App features or legal requirements. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes are effective immediately upon posting on the Privacy Policy URL.
