Greetings everyone! My name is Filip and I am a creative 26-year-old, with a passion for teaching programming to people ages 9 and up. I worked at Playstudios from 2022. to 2023. as a games client developer. Ever since, I've been working as a video editor.
I am also fluent in English, thanks in part to myself being glued to the television and computer screens from an early age. That is when I was first introduced to the world of video games. In the beginning, most of them were of the puzzle and arcade game genres, but that later evolved into platformers and action-adventure games, MOBA games, and even HOPA and danmaku. I have always been quite intrigued by video games. However, it wasn't until recently that I realized that game development is not as tricky as it seemed, as it is mainly coding with a somewhat different mindset. My decent C# skills definitely aided me well enough to start the development of simple games in Unity.ย
Getting a chance to teach a Unity course at a private programming school, also allowed me to better understand the simplified process of developing a game. It also helped me to understand the concept of event-driven programming, as it is one of the things, besides game development, that was neglected at my studies, due to the lack of game development-oriented courses.ย
(Game Jam - M3 Gejm Dลพem)
Snakes Play Pong is a game developed at my first ever game jam. The "M3 Gejm Dลพem" brought to us by Nordeus fondacija and Playstudios was also the first game jam where I would compete in as a part of a team. As the topic was all about going retro, our team, Quadratic unknown decided to combine 2 classic games: Pong and Snake.
In this challenging 2-player game, each player controls a snake where the aim of the game is to use your slithering body in order to give your opponent a goal. The first player who reaches 10 goals wins. Be careful, however, the more goals you make, the shorter you become!
Along the way, you will find some interesting power-ups which may be a great help (or may be a huge detriment). Only one way to find out! :D
(CrazyHUB Submission - Fire and Water)
The game Fire and Water was a special project created as a part of CrazyLabs' CrazyHUB Game Accelerator program. It was a collaboration with Tanja Batanjski, now a visual and 2d game artist.ย
Our assignment was to make a "hypercasual" game based on a runner game. Tanja and I, being a part of "Dance of Water and Fire", decided on the idea inspired by the games "Fireboy & Watergirl". You control a character who can switch between 2 elements, fire and water, using certain pick-ups you collect. You also collect gems and orbs to increase your total score.
(Game Jam - Icoso's GeoJam 2022)
Smirkle on Polygon Planet is a simple puzzle platformer game created for Icoso's GeoJam. The theme of this game jam was "Pick a side". With this in mind, I took to the drawing board the idea of polygons having sides and having the player choose between the sides of a polygon, each side being its own part of a level.
You control Smirkle, a blue smirking circle in order to guide him to the finish line. The game starts you off on a single-sided platform. The more you progress, the more sides you can switch to (2-sided line, triangle, square, ...) By pressing on the arrows in the magic mirror in the top right you can pick which side you want Smirkle to move to.ย
(GameJam - 15th Alakajam)
Despite the "15th Alakajam" being a small-scale community game jam, it definitely had a positive impact on me and the experience for an online game jam overall was most satisfactory. Following the submission of the game for the unranked showcase, I got a good deal of feedback from the community. Most people were generally pleased with the look and the feel of the game, especially with the level design.
A unique design aspect of this game and a first for me is the inclusion of human voices as speech. This was possible thanks to my dearest friend Sara Milojeviฤ.
Lorette is a proof of concept game with the main character being the reporter herself, Lorette. Being a reporter, she aims to find the true facts by reading books which provide factual information, so that she can complete her report.ย
(Game Jam - Ubisoft Belgrade Game Jam 2022)
Prior to the Ubisoft Belgrade Game Jam, I've never attempted completing a game in just under 24h. For Kristina, Miloลก and I, this was definitely a challenge. Having been immediately hooked to the idea of making a "spooky-ish" haunted house-inspired game, we got down to business and started developing the core gameplay.
As a player, your main goal is to walk down the hall successfully without dying.ย Your main form of defense against the robotic enemies are your mouse cursor and keyboard. Once you overlay your mouse cursor with the appropriate letter, you need to press the same key on your keyboard in order to deal damage to the enemy. Once enough damage is dealt, the enemy is destroyed.
(Personal project - Dueling Book)
As a Yu-Gi-Oh player, it's not hard to get the thought of "what cards would I make". In fact, there are entire communities based around custom Yu-Gi-Oh card design and balance.ย
The Jelly-O archetype was my green card to achieve the childhood desire of making my own Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Based on gelatinous sweet treats, these ย Jelly-O monsters pack quite a flavorful punch! The main engine of the deck are the "-berricious" cards which you can discard in order to Special Summon monsters from your Extra Deck and use them as costs for the effects of Extra Deck monsters.
The artwork for the cards was created using Adobe Photoshop and the cards themselves are created using the Dueling Book website.
