If you want the ultimate wide soundstage for pinpointing enemy locations in mobile gaming, choose FiiO FT1; if you need a reference-grade, bass-heavy tuning with superior build materials for studio monitoring and immersive gameplay, choose Linsoul THIEAUDIO Cypher Flagship.
• FiiO FT1: Its biggest strength is the massive 95x86mm planar magnetic driver that creates an incredibly wide, boundary-less soundstage, but it comes with a heavier 374g weight that might fatigue some users during long sessions.
• Linsoul THIEAUDIO Cypher: It shines with its 20-core N45 dynamic driver offering precise, neutral tuning and a featherlight 235g design, though its 32-ohm impedance suggests it may require more power from your source to reach full potential compared to the FT1.
• The FiiO FT1 is the pick for those who prioritize spatial awareness and detailed high-frequency resolution above all else.
• The Linsoul THIEAUDIO Cypher is the choice for professionals and gamers seeking a balanced, warm-neutral signature with premium build quality and comfort.
The FiiO FT1 Pro is engineered for the listener who demands extreme detail and a vast sonic landscape. At its heart lies a custom-developed 95x86mm flat unit, a size typically reserved for heavy-duty flagship models, yet it manages to keep the overall weight manageable while delivering a frequency response that extends up to 40kHz. This isn't just about hearing high notes; it's about how those notes are presented. The sheer scale of the driver allows for a lateral soundstage that feels almost imperceptible in its boundaries, making it ideal for anyone who needs to locate sounds with surgical precision. Whether you are mixing audio or playing competitive games where knowing exactly where a footstep originates can mean the difference between victory and defeat, this open-back design offers a clarity that few other headphones match.
What makes this unit truly special is the engineering behind its diaphragm. FiiO spent two years developing a 1μm ultra-thin diaphragm made from a high-performance PET substrate. In the world of acoustic physics, reducing thickness by even 1μm can drastically change how the diaphragm vibrates at high speeds, directly influencing the final sound quality. They further enhanced this with a dual-coating patent technology using sapphire and aluminum. The sapphire adds hardness to boost high-frequency resolution, while the lightweight aluminum improves conductivity. Combined with a uniform magnetic field design that eliminates unevenness between magnets, the result is a headphone that minimizes distortion and captures subtle nuances with remarkable fidelity.

This headphone is perfect for the audiophile or gamer who sits in a controlled environment and wants to hear every breath, rustle, and reverb tail. However, it is not for everyone. The open-back nature means there is no isolation; if you are in a noisy coffee shop or a busy office, the outside world will bleed in, and people around you will hear what you are listening to. Additionally, the focus on extreme detail and a wide stage might feel too analytical for someone who prefers a warmer, more "fun" sound signature. If you value a natural, uncolored reproduction of sound and have the space to let the sound breathe, the FiiO FT1 is a powerhouse. But if you need passive noise cancellation or a lighter build for extended wear without any pressure, you might find the 374g mass and the lack of isolation limiting.
The Linsoul THIEAUDIO Cypher Flagship takes a different approach, focusing on a refined, reference-grade tuning that serves both professional audio work and high-stakes gaming. Instead of a massive planar driver, it utilizes a newly developed 50mm dynamic driver equipped with a 20-core N45 magnetic array. This configuration is designed for exceptional responsiveness and unmatched high-resolution sound. The tuning philosophy here is distinct: it aims for a warm-neutral midrange with powerful, controlled bass and precise treble. This isn't a "V-shaped" sound that boosts everything equally; it is a studio-grade signature where the bass has a deep, articulate shelf, the vocals remain completely flat and neutral, and the treble offers natural decay with a precise pinna gain.
Build quality is where the Cypher really distinguishes itself as a premium option. It is crafted with aerospace-grade aluminum earcups that are precision CNC-molded and sandblasted for rigidity, which helps control resonance. The headband features a composite stainless steel and carbon fiber core lined with genuine lambskin, while the earpads use slow-rebound memory foam covered in velour. This combination results in a remarkably light 235g weight, making it one of the most comfortable over-ear options available for long listening sessions. The inclusion of a 1.5-meter braided cable with both 3.5mm and 6.35mm connectors ensures compatibility with a wide range of equipment, from portable DACs to professional mixing consoles.
This headphone is the ideal companion for musicians, engineers, and gamers who need a reliable, accurate representation of audio without coloration. The "Multi-Scenario Listening Experience" is not just marketing; the design specifically targets accuracy, allowing you to hear footsteps, enemies, and directional cues with absolute authenticity. Because of its open-back design, it excels in creating a spacious soundstage, but like the FT1, it requires a quiet environment to be fully appreciated. It is less about the sheer width of the stage and more about the precision of the imaging and the emotional connection to the music or game audio. If you are looking for the best transparency mode gaming headphones where you want to hear the game clearly without artificial enhancement, or if you need a tool for critical listening where neutrality is king, the Cypher is a compelling contender. However, if you prefer a more energetic, bass-forward "fun" sound or need active noise cancellation for travel, this reference-tuned, open-back design might feel too revealing of your room's acoustics.

For my money, I would choose the Linsoul THIEAUDIO Cypher Flagship as my primary pair of headphones for mobile gaming and general listening. While the FiiO FT1 offers a fascinatingly wide soundstage that is hard to beat for pure imaging, the Cypher strikes a better balance between performance and practicality. Its significantly lighter weight of 235g makes a huge difference when wearing them for hours, and the reference tuning provides a more versatile sound profile that works equally well for competitive gaming, where clear separation is key, and for critical music listening. The inclusion of both 3.5mm and 6.35mm connectors also removes the guesswork for future upgrades. Ultimately, if you want the best rotatable ear cups in ear earbuds for mobile gaming—though these are over-ears—the Cypher delivers the most complete package of comfort, build quality, and accurate sound reproduction.
Yes, both are excellent open-back choices for mobile gaming due to their wide soundstages and precise imaging, which help you locate footsteps and direction. However, remember they lack active noise cancellation, so they work best in quiet environments.
The Linsoul THIEAUDIO Cypher Flagship edges out the competition with its aerospace-grade aluminum, carbon fiber headband, and genuine lambskin lining, all contributing to a lighter 235g weight that is easier to wear for long periods compared to the 374g FiiO FT1.
Both require a decent source, but the FiiO FT1's lower 20-ohm impedance makes it slightly easier to drive than the Linsoul THIEAUDIO Cypher's 32-ohm load, which may benefit from a dedicated headphone amp to fully realize its dynamic range.
The FiiO FT1 focuses on extreme detail and a very wide, airy soundstage with enhanced highs, while the Linsoul THIEAUDIO Cypher offers a warm-neutral, reference-tuned signature with deeper, more controlled bass and a flatter midrange.
