EVALUATION

Evaluation

The scores obtained in previous years cannot be used in the current year.
The evaluation consists of:

• tests: two, each of 35 pts (weeks 8 and 15-17), a total of 2×35=70 pts.
• seminar: contributions maximum 20 pts for active participation:
      one pt for a non-trivial response
      two pts maximum for remarkable solutions per student each week
• seminar: attendance 1 pt for each attendance upto a maximum of 10 pts.

The content of the tests will verify the level of understanding of the concepts, results, thinking, and formulation used in the lectures and seminars. Passing is conditioned on gaining a minimum of 45 pts  out of the total of 100 = 70+20+10 and should reflect the assimilation of the following concepts & skills:

• correct formulation of computational problems;
• algorithm design for medium-difficulty problems;
• algorithm analysis, such as complexity of algorithms;
• the ability to use paradigms in designing algorithms.

Overdue session: The test in the overdue and grade increasing session (ro: restanțe și măriri) combines both tests, 70 pts total, and contains tasks from all lectures.

Grades: The grades are established according to the distribution of the scores of the students who passed the minimal performance standards: the sum of the score obtained at the tests plus the seminar.
