FiftyFifty is a shared expense management application designed to help couples and other pairs track shared expenses, balances, recurring costs, comments, reactions, and settlements.
This Privacy Policy explains what information FiftyFifty collects, how it is used, and the choices users have regarding their information.
When you use FiftyFifty, we may collect or process the following information:

FiftyFifty does not connect directly to your bank account and does not collect credit card numbers, bank account numbers, or payment credentials.

We use information collected through FiftyFifty to:
Create and manage user accounts
Provide shared expense tracking
Calculate balances between members of a shared space
Generate expense analytics
Create and process recurring expenses

Allow users to comment on and react to expenses
Process settlement requests
Improve reliability, security, and functionality of the app
Provide automatic expense categorization
We do not sell users' personal information.
FiftyFifty uses an AI-assisted categorization feature to automatically categorize expense descriptions.
When this feature is used, an expense description may be sent securely through our backend to a third-party AI service provider for the purpose of determining an expense category.
Only information required to perform the categorization is sent for this purpose.
Users should avoid entering unnecessary sensitive personal information in expense descriptions.
FiftyFifty uses third-party services to operate the application.

Firebase Cloud Functions
Firebase is used for account authentication, storage of app data, synchronization between users, backend processing, and notifications.
OpenAI
OpenAI services may be used to process expense descriptions for automatic expense categorization.
These service providers may process information according to their own privacy and security practices.
FiftyFifty does not currently use user data for advertising purposes.
FiftyFifty is designed around shared spaces.
When you join a shared space, the other member of that space may be able to see information including:
Your display name
Expenses you create
Expense amounts
Comments and reactions
Settlement activity
Shared balance information
This information is shared only as part of the functionality of the shared space.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user information.
Data transmitted between the app and backend services is transmitted using secure encrypted connections provided by the underlying service providers.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
We retain user information only for as long as necessary to provide the FiftyFifty service, maintain shared expense records, comply with legitimate legal obligations, or protect the security and integrity of the service.
Users may request deletion of their account and associated personal data.
Users can request deletion of their FiftyFifty account directly from within the application.

When an account deletion request is completed, personal information associated with the account will be deleted or anonymized, except where certain information must be retained for legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, or shared-record purposes.
Any information that must be retained will only be kept for as long as reasonably necessary for that purpose.
FiftyFifty may send push notifications related to activity within a shared space, including:
New expenses
Comments
Reactions
Settlement requests
Settlement confirmations
Recurring expense activity
Users can manage notification permissions through their device settings.
FiftyFifty is not designed or intended for children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we learn that such information has been collected, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
FiftyFifty currently does not display third-party advertisements.
If advertising services are introduced in a future version of the app, this Privacy Policy and the Google Play Data Safety information will be updated accordingly.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the application, its features, or applicable requirements change.
The updated version will be made available through the same public Privacy Policy page, together with a revised effective date.
