What is a Scholarship?
A scholarship is a financial award given to a student on the basis of academic achievement and promise. Many scholarships are awarded based on merit. However, some also take into account financial need. Scholarships do not have to be repaid.
Be creative when looking for scholarships, where do you like to shop, eat, spend time? Ask or go online to see if they offer a scholarship... McDonald's, Burger King, Kohl's, Coca-Cola, they all do......think about it!

Search early, apply early.
Check eligibility requirements, apply to all for which you qualify.
Never pay money to apply for a scholarship.
Check you application for mistakes before you submit it.
Have someone proofread any required essays.
Ask for letters of recommendation early, at least a month before the due date.
Research and know something about the organization that is offering the scholarship.
Don’t miss deadlines. Use a calendar and checklist to get organized.
Apply for scholarships in different categories.
Don’t count out scholarships with lower award amounts
