Northern’s National Honor Society Admissions Procedures 2025
Juniors and Seniors only
3.5 GPA for eligibility
Must be enrolled in the district for at least a year
Invitation to apply mailed to all eligible juniors and seniors
Interested applicants must respond electronically to receive application information
Students must complete the application fully by the stated deadline (Oct. 14). Failure to meet deadlines demonstrates a lack of leadership and commitment. Applications will not be accepted.
The Teachers’ Council evaluates students. Contributing elements: essay (content and form), activities (commitment and amount), service and leadership demonstrated, teacher input (attendance, academic integrity, character, and leadership in the classroom)
Students who meet the criteria for membership will receive acceptance information
Students who do not receive membership will receive a notification of the denial
Accepted students are ONLY members if they complete the acceptance documents - dues, contract, tutoring commitment, etc.
Newly accepted members will be inducted at the solemn ceremony on Monday, December 8th, at 7:00 pm in the auditorium. There, new members will be officially included in our chapter.
Once admitted, NHS members must maintain academic and ethical standards, beyond the regular Northern student. Neglecting to do that will result in probation and potential dismissal from the National Honor Society.
