Thursday 13th Poets Group
In May our topics were VOICES and VOLCANO. Once again we sent or came with good creations or findings from the internet. Françoise found THE VOICE OF THE RAIN by Walt Whitman and Sylvie M. Maya Angelou's famous poem CAGED BIRDS. She also wrote THE LITTLE VOICE. Georgette praised Jacques Brel's distinctive voice e. g. in his song LA QUETE. She also wrote about the varieties of voices that have a various effects on listeners. We also liked Georges' poems about the outbreak of the Vesuvius destroying the town of Pompeii. He also sent MY VOICE: to be heard in an election when he votes. Joseph in his poem VOICES wrote how different our voices are, depending what we'd like to express. He artistically illustrated himself his poem THE VOICES OF SEA SHELLS. Léone sent W.B. Yeat's poem: THE EVERLASTING VOICES. Dietmar described AMY'S (Winehouse) VOICE that fell silent too early.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday 13 June at 3.30 pm in room No.11 at la Mairie du 6e, 37 Rue Bossuet 69006 Lyon. Topic: FRIENDS
The group recommends that you go on our AFGB website to find all their poems:

Friday 28th Book Circle
For the last Book Circle of the year, we’ll meet on Friday 28th at 2 pm.
As usual in June, a member has kindly offered to hold the meeting at her home.
A note will be sent later on to the members giving them precise information regarding the venue where the Book Circle is hosted and the way to get there. And we’ll talk about “Paradise” by Adulrazak Gurnah, a Zanzibar-born writer (winner of the Nobel prize of literature 2021) which will let us discover a culturally diversified East Africa through a coming-of-age story, set in the early 1900s, in what is now Tanzania. The novel depicts the array of cultures in East Africa, as well as the looming figure of colonialism.
