Plant & Animal Names: If your character is clan born, and has no rogue parent, these must be native to Montana, USA. (Not introduced or naturalized). Please be sure to check out our Valid Name List before asking staff.
Scientific/Genus Names are not allowed, but alternative common names may be accepted if they follow the naming rules.
Rank-Based naming, also know as suffixes, like -paw, -star, etc. can only be used by characters of that rank.
Forbidden Names:
Joke names (e.g., Mountaindew, Smokeweed) are not allowed.
Pine trees, fireflies, and glowworms are sacred in PineClan and cannot be used in names. However, Fire, Fly, Glow/Glowing, and Worm are acceptable alternatives.
Pineclan uses traditional prefix-suffix format.
Shoal cats are given a base name (noun) at birth, then a descriptive name (adjective or gerund) when they become a fighter, seeker, or den guard.
Pineclan Prefixes & Shoal Base names cannot be duplicated (e.g., Moonwhisper exists, so Whisperingmoon cannot).
Pineclan Suffixes & Shoal Descriptive names can be duplicated (e.g., Howlingstream & Howlinghawk).
NPC are an exception, as a playable character (PC) can share a name with an NPC (e.g., Bumblepurr & Bumblepaw), but the prefix cannot be reused until one of them leaves or dies.
Felines older than 12 moons can keep their original name, or change it to fit Pineclan or The Shoal.
Cats under 12 moons must adopt a name appropriate for their group (e.g., an apprentice must take a clan-appropriate prefix and -paw suffix).
Skyclan-style names (from the books) are not allowed.
Allowed only under specific circumstances, approved on a case-by-case basis.
Litter kittens may need approval from both staff and their in-game guardians/parents.
Name Reservations:
Each player may reserve 1 name at a time.
Reservations last indefinitely, but if unused for months, staff may check in and reassign/remove it if necessary.
If plotting a littler opening, you may reserve a number of prefixes equivalent to the number of kitten slots you have rolled.
