What Do We Do?
The evolution of the nervous system and its functional unit, the neuron, represents one of the most important events in the history of animals. The nervous system is essential for sensory perception, tissue communication, and, in humans, higher cognitive functions. Despite its importance, many aspects of its origin and evolution remain unclear. At The Feuda Lab, we are dedicated to understanding how neurons evolve and are defined during development.
How Do We Do This?
We work on both model and novel systems and integrate tools from, genomics, molecular biology, computational biology, phylogenomics and single-cell biology
Our Collaborative Environment
We are located in the Department of Genetics, Genomics, and Cancer Studies at the University of Leicester, renowned for the discovery of DNA fingerprinting. Our group is part of the Neurogenetics group, a cluster comprising seven PIs specializing in various aspects of the nervous system, including neurodegeneration, chronobiology, and ageing.Â
Join Us
At The Feuda Lab, we believe in the power of ideas and the importance of nurturing the next generation of scientists by letting them explore concepts and develop projects. We offer opportunities for MRes, PhD, and postdoctoral/fellowship positions. If you are interested in joining us or collaborating, please feel free to get in touch at rf190@leicester.ac.uk to discuss potential opportunities.
