All your burning questions answered!
Fordham Experimental Theater is a theater club which focuses on creativity and passion for all things theater. The "E" is key: here at FET, we want to push the limits of what a stage production can be and what stories can be told on stage. All of our shows are student run: that means student directed, student written, student acted, and student produced, allowing for near complete creative freedom.
We host a variety of shows every weekend and are constantly looking for talented people who are just as passionate as we are about our mission statment.
What is this mysterious "Black box" we always talk about? Well, it's a quaint little stage in the back of Collin's hall where we host all our performances. We do admit it's a bit tricky to find. To get there, go up those stone stairs behind Collins, and it's the first door on your right! You might even see a bunch of cool and really chill people waiting in line in anticipation for one of our many INSANLEY awesome shows. Don't know where Collins is? Don't worry, it's circled on this campus map over yonder.
Don't try to deny it: we all know you stack NO PAPER. Not to worry, because the best part about FET is that everything we do in the box is FREE!!! Yes, absoltuely free. As are all the best things in life! Like a walk in the park. Or Fortnite.
Funny joke dude! Maybe you should try and audition for our umbrella groups.
Theatrical productions, aren't the only thing FET has to offer. (We like to say we're a Jack of All Trades, Master of of All of Those Trades and Then Some Becasue We Are Just That Cool.) We've got four lovely umbrella groups that take up a majority of our weekends at the Box. When there's not a slot show or playwrights festival going on, you can find Free Pizza Sketch Comedy, Stranded in Pittsburgh Improv, Allergy Friendly Stand-Up, or Black Sheep Poetry performing just for you! Yes you. Because we love you.
Glad you asked! (You enthiusiastic, hypothetical you.) We host audtions for our umbrella groups at the beginning of every semester. If you want to pitch a slot show, they'll be voted on democratically by FET members in voting processes that involve ZERO geographic gerrymandering. If you have any questions about submissions, check out this sample of a comprehensive proposal sheet.
We're constantly looking for new talent to write/act/work on our shows and playwrights, so if at first you don't succeed, try again! No prior experience is required either, if you think you can, you porbably could. Doesn't hurt to try out at all.
