With the recent completion of stage 2 of the GSQ's Geoscience Data Modernisation Project (GDMP), we have made the open-file data held by GSQ easier than ever for people to access.
In this talk, we will introduce the GSQ Open Data Portal website and demonstrate how to search, find and download data of interest. We will then build on this foundation to introduce the Open Data Portal's API and discuss the benefits of using it - it's not just for programmers! Finally we will demonstrate how to find and download data of interest via the API, using the instructions available on GSQ's GitHub page.
About the presenter:
Kate Wathen-Dunn is a Data Scientist with the Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ).
With over 100 years of data to play with, and a newly-modernised cloud-based data platform, her role is to apply machine learning techniques to find patterns in the data to support data-driven exploration in Queensland.
