If you want high-performance braking for a vintage Japanese road bike with superior pad life and minimal disc wear, choose Ferodo Platinum Organic P; if you need a complete front and rear brake replacement kit for a modern TRK502X adventure bike that offers wide compatibility and copper-based stability, choose ZYJKMECS Universal Motorcycle Front/Rear.
• Ferodo Platinum Organic P: Offers racing-derived carbon grip compound technology for consistent torque and triple the pad life of standard organic materials, but is strictly limited to specific vintage Honda models and single front axle use.
• ZYJKMECS Universal Motorcycle Front/Rear: Delivers a comprehensive two-wheel solution with copper construction for smooth stopping power across multiple model years, yet lacks the specialized racing heritage and advanced vulcanization process of premium brands.
• Who this is for: Ferodo is the pick for purists restoring 1978–1979 Honda CB750K motorcycles who demand track-level performance on public roads.
• Who this is for: ZYJKMECS is the ideal choice for TRK502X owners in 2017 through 2022 seeking a convenient, all-in-one replacement set without hunting for separate front and rear parts.
This product stands out immediately because it isn't just a generic replacement part; it is an engineering solution born from a world racing program. The core appeal lies in its carbon grip compound, which is specifically designed for high-performance road use. If you are riding a classic machine like the 1978 or 1979 Honda CB750K, you likely know that stock components often feel vague or fade under pressure. Ferodo addresses this by using a unique vulcanization process that delivers superior and consistent braking torque. This isn't about raw power alone; it is about predictability. When you squeeze the lever, the bike responds exactly as expected, regardless of how hard you push it.
The longevity of these pads is another defining feature that sets them apart from typical organic compounds found in standard kits. The data indicates they offer three times the pad life of comparable organic road materials. For an ATV owner or a classic bike enthusiast who spends hours maintaining their vehicle, reducing the frequency of maintenance intervals is a massive advantage. Furthermore, this material generates only 20% less disc wear than competitive sintered compounds. This is critical for preserving your expensive rotors, ensuring that the investment you made in the bike's braking system lasts longer before needing rotor replacement.
However, this product has a very narrow lane. It is not a universal fit; it is engineered exclusively for the front brakes of 78-79 Honda CB750K models. If you own any other make, model, or year, this item will not function. Additionally, while the "organic" classification might sound softer to some, the friction profile here is medium to high with excellent stability, even in wet conditions. You should skip this product if you are looking for a rear brake option or if your motorcycle is anything other than the specified vintage Honda. It is a precision tool for a specific job, not a general-purpose fix.

For those riding modern adventure-style motorcycles, specifically the TRK502X series produced between 2017 and 2022, the ZYJKMECS kit solves a different problem entirely: convenience and completeness. Unlike the single-front-pad limitation of the Ferodo option, this package provides both front and rear brake pad sets in one box. This means you can tackle the entire braking system overhaul in a single session rather than sourcing parts separately. The design focuses on broad compatibility within the TRK502X lineage, ensuring that whether you have a 2017 model or a 2022 version, the fitment remains reliable.
The material composition here is distinctively copper-based. Copper is known for providing a smooth braking effect and good wear resistance, which translates to a consistent feel when slowing down. The reliability claim centers on this metal's ability to offer better resistance and stability across different driving environments. Whether you are navigating city traffic or tackling rougher terrain on an adventure bike, the copper formulation aims to maintain performance without fading quickly. The inclusion of both front and rear units makes this a practical upgrade for riders who want to ensure their entire braking system is fresh and responsive.
That said, this is a universal aftermarket solution rather than a specialized racing component. While it offers good value through its dual-set nature, it does not boast the same level of proprietary technology or racing pedigree found in the Ferodo line. It is a solid, functional choice for daily riding and moderate off-road use, prioritizing ease of installation and coverage over niche performance metrics. You should consider this product if you own a TRK502X and need a straightforward, cost-effective way to replace worn pads on both wheels simultaneously. However, if you are looking for a specific vintage restoration part or a high-friction track-focused compound, this universal kit may lack the specialized refinement required for those exact applications.
• Best for specific vintage restoration: Ferodo Platinum Organic P is the only viable option for 1978–1979 Honda CB750K front brakes, offering no other brand matches its specific application history.
• Best for complete system replacement: ZYJKMECS wins hands-down for anyone needing both front and rear pads at once, saving time and effort compared to buying two separate packages.
• Best for pad longevity: Ferodo's three-times-longer life expectancy makes it superior for riders who want to minimize maintenance frequency, whereas ZYJKMECS relies on standard wear rates.
• Best for disc preservation: The low disc deposition and reduced disc wear (20% less than sintered) of the Ferodo pads protect your rotors better than the copper-based ZYJKMECS alternative.
• Best for modern adventure bikes: ZYJKMECS is tailored for the TRK502X platform (2017–2022), making it the logical choice for owners of these specific modern machines.
• Best for racing-derived performance: Ferodo utilizes technology from world racing programs to deliver stable, high-friction braking, a feature not claimed by the universal ZYJKMECS kit.
• Best for versatility: ZYJKMECS covers a wider range of years (six model years) within its specific platform, offering flexibility for used bike owners.
• Best for wet weather stability: Both claim stability, but Ferodo explicitly lists "excellent wet performance" as a key trait derived from its unique vulcanization process.
In my opinion, the decision comes down to the age and type of your machine. If you are an ATV owner or a classic bike restorer working on a 1978–1979 Honda CB750K, the Ferodo Platinum Organic P is the superior choice. Its racing-derived compound, extended pad life, and protective properties for your discs justify its specific application. Conversely, if you ride a TRK502X from 2017 to 2022, the ZYJKMECS Universal kit is the practical winner because it handles both wheels in one go with reliable copper performance. I would personally buy the Ferodo for a restoration project where every gram of weight and inch of friction matters, but I would reach for the ZYJKMECS for a quick, complete refresh on a modern adventure bike.
No, the Ferodo Platinum Organic P is strictly designed for the front brakes of 1978 and 1979 Honda CB750K models and will not fit other years or manufacturers.
Yes, the ZYJKMECS Universal set includes brake pads for both the front and rear systems, making it a complete solution for TRK502X models.
While copper offers good wear resistance, the Ferodo carbon grip compound claims to last three times longer than standard organic materials due to its unique vulcanization process.
The Ferodo pads are suitable for high-performance road use with wet stability, while the ZYJKMECS pads are designed for general driving environments on the TRK502X motorcycle platform.
