Artist Statement

The artist's work examines the profound relationship between the natural world and the universal structures that underpin it. Working in graphite and ink, she brings together organic forms—including feathers, bones, skulls, botanical specimens, and insects—with geometric systems and fragments of ancient written language to explore themes of interconnectedness, transformation, memory, and the passage of time.

Through a disciplined monochromatic practice, her drawings reveal the intricate architecture and subtle complexities inherent in natural forms. Geometry is employed not as ornament, but as a conceptual framework—one that suggests the invisible order connecting biological systems, human consciousness, and the larger rhythms of existence.

Rather than offering fixed narratives, these works encourage sustained looking and quiet reflection. They propose that nature, ancient knowledge, and contemporary experience are not isolated phenomena but interconnected expressions of enduring universal patterns. Artist Background

Tracie Gonzales is a contemporary graphite and ink artist whose work explores the interconnectedness of nature, sacred geometry, and ancient symbolism. Through meticulous black-and-white compositions, she combines scientific observation with philosophical and spiritual themes, creating drawings that invite contemplation of humanity's relationship with the natural world.

She is a graduate of both California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and the Academy of Art University (BFA, MFA), where she developed and built on a foundation in fine art photography, drawing, and design.

Over the course of her career, her work has been exhibited in multiple exhibitions and featured in a variety of private and public collections. In addition to exhibiting in galleries, she has built a dedicated following through artisan markets, commissioned artwork, and retail partnerships. Her original drawings and archival giclée prints are held by collectors who appreciate the balance of technical precision, symbolism, and reverence for the natural world.
