It all started unpretentiously in 1987 with small sculptures of fish in balsa wood that were presented at fishing tournaments at the Rio de Janeiro Yacht Club. With the encouragement and help of the famous plastic artist Aldemir Martins, the pieces became larger, and one of them, a white marlin, was reproduced in bronze and sold at a marlin fishing tournament. After some time, the fishing director of the Rio de Janeiro Yacht Club remembered this and called me, asking if I would like to make the trophies for the yacht club's tournaments in 2014, and thus Fernando Pessoa Arts was born, specializing in trophies primarily for billfish and other pelagic fish. We also make trophies for other sport fish, sailing competitions, beach tennis, corporate pieces, medals, plaques, and other awards. Most of our pieces are cast in bronze, brass, aluminum, metal alloy, and resin. We also make pieces by laser cutting and engraving (acrylic, MDF, and steel), 3D printing, and CNC machining. We develop prototypes from drawings or models made in modeling clay or CNC.
