Hic Sunt Dracones, also known as The World of Dragons, is a Spec Evo project intended to imagine an alternate world where all the legendary and mythical creatures we know as dragons evolved alongside humans and other modern species. Yes, ALL of them. While the term "dragon" refers, quite vaguely, to reptilian, sometimes winged and very powerful monsters, but that definition has gone by the wayside in modern times, with the term being applied for convinience to a wide diversity of creatures from different cultures and backgrounds, as a sometimes reductive shortcut that tells us little beyond the most basic and superficial information about them. You know, in the same way the mythical beings known as Long are known as "Chinese dragons" in the west.
Furthermore, this project explores how all of these extremely disparate beings could belong to a single monophyletic clade, with all beings called "dragons" having evolved from a single ancestor, thus lending credit to them being called by the same name in this setting! This has been a long running project that has mostly taken shape within the confince of the Speculative Wildlife Research Center, but which might find new legs and reach here, explored on its own!
Now, let's meed what this project is all about, the dragons themselves!
