Darío Fernando Yépez-Ponce has a degree in Mechatronics Engineering (2016) from Universidad Técnica del Norte (Ibarra - Ecuador). His postgraduate studies include a Diploma in CAD/CAM (2018) by Cámara de Comercio Empresarial (Lima - Peru), a Magister in Electronics and Automation with a mention in Industrial Informatics (2021) by the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (Quito - Ecuador). He is pursuing a PhD in Automation, Robotics, and Industrial Informatics at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Valencia - Spain), whose doctoral thesis is developed in Control Engineering, Computer Vision, and Artificial Intelligence.
I am an associate professor of Electronics Career at the Instituto Superior Universitario Central Técnico, Quito - Ecuador (2024 - present). Since 2021, I have registered as an accredited researcher by SENESCYT (Secretaría Nacional de Educación Superior, Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación). Previously I worked as a teacher in the mechatronics career at the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Universitario Libertad, Quito - Ecuador (2024), teacher in the mechatronics career at the Universidad Técnica del Norte, Ibarra-Ecuador (2022 - 2024), teacher of the mechatronics career at the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Nikola Tesla, Cayambe-Ecuador (2023 - 2024) and teacher of the automation and instrumentation career at the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Luis Tello, Esmeraldas - Ecuador (2018-2022). I also work in my own micro-company, YPMES (2014 - ongoing), developing and advising projects with PIC, AVR, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP8266, ESP32, PLCs, and HMI, and as a trainer in these areas.
My work as a teacher, researcher, and advisor has allowed me to develop and direct some projects and research in the area of control and automation; give lectures at conferences, webinars, and seminars; publish a book and several scientific articles in non-indexed and indexed journals, as well as guide several degree works (technology, engineering, and master's degree). I was also a referee of a scientific article in an international journal and of a scientific committee at a technological congress.
My main areas of interest are optimization, automatic control, embedded systems, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and computer vision.
