We are seeking one to two self-motivated Ph.D. students to join our group in Fall 2026. The research areas include (1) mechanical vibrations and measurements for flexible electronics, and (2) structural analysis using image processing and computer vision integrated with solid mechanics1. The Ph.D. assistantship includes a stipend and full tuition coverage, with total annual support ranging from $64,000 to $70,000.
We also welcome postdoctoral researchers and visiting scholars, as permitted by funding.
Qualifications:
1. Self-motivated with srong passion for scientific research
2. Master’s degrees in mechanical engineering or a closely related field (outstanding undergraduate students with research experience may be considered exceptionally).
3. Solid foundation in statics, dynamics, and mechanics of materials
4. Familiarity with principles of mechanical design and hands-on experience in building experimental setups.
Priority will be given to candidates with the following skills:
1. Expertise in mechanical vibrations, acoustics, dynamics, and optics
2. Understand and be able to collect data with Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems, devices & software
3. Proficiency in programming language (MATLAB,Python,or C++)
4. Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis
5. Expertise in computer vision and image processing
6. Expertise in polymer and photoelastic
7. Expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning (with TensorFlow and Python)
8. Expertise in heat transfer.
