I: First Flower Dance
Step beyond expectation,
that which terminates the bloom
and cuts the harvest short.
Wander into the overgrowth,
that which timelessly endures
for want of a timeless existence.
Pluck the loftiest dream alive,
cultivate it in defiance,
lose your shrinking-violet petals
and violently spatter the sky
with vibrant hues untamed —
then rest, knowing your dream is nigh.
II: Sympoiesis
artistic initiation to the otherworldly mysteries
brings societal somnambulists to wild, wonderful
wakefulness — igniting dormant passions
blood splatters on a blank, desperate canvas
synchronized heartbeats to the vibrations of
sky and soil, that which sustains itself
create or perish; express or destroy
my sole mission is this:
to shamelessly enjoy being and becoming with
every moment I used to waste.
III: Persephone
But maybe there is deliverance to be found in destruction.
Divinity in decay; the fall of leaves and civilizations.
Beauty is terror, final spark in every rotting womb
Inevitable ending, rending, descending
But there’s no sense in pretending, ever lamenting as we burn
That Persephone may never return.
IV: Enter the Labyrinth
if we’ve been so hastily stitched together,
why do we keep trying to fix ourselves
with old threads already severed,
fraying figments of forever?
what are we left with now but needles,
bleeding through every blessed pore?
we must re-weave what we’ve torn through
or wait for something more, just wait
then leave our shells behind
break the twine, let it all unravel
and back to nothingness, to the first thread, travel.
V: Fire to Fire
set fire to fire, put me out of this frame
for the sake of forsaking simplicity
subtlety-smothered, desaturated flame
surge forth in synchronicity
wolf of light, you crash through the gates
behind which the starry bull waits
but you will not end me before I begin
a stately ditherer retreated hastily
then another withering cheat
stepped down from office
and shattered reality
upside-down brings downside-up
force confrontation; define “corrupt”
shadow is bitter light slackening
tyrant is ripped to shreds
we will meet them where they are this time; we are outsiders flooding in
with intent to disrupt, for upside-down brings downside-up
