The Mother
The Mother
Emma DiValentino
Sometimes, I want to think
of The Mother as the body
and the earth that holds
every living creature as
Mary held her martyred son.
And yet I know better than
to think of The Mother as
a creature beyond God.
I know better than to think
of God in certain prayers.
I know better than to be born
again in you. For I am already
born of you. Mother, forgive
my sins, I did not know better.
