Isabella Bickenbach
i pour cement packets into
the ground & the chalky p o w d e r
c i r c u l a t e s in the air like eyelashes
i mix it with water & churn
until i can no l o n g e r
my eyes coated in powdery cement
closed into slits
like crescent moons
arms stacked fire log style
turned mossy from weathering
never fully dry
i’m stuck in cement while a crane
knocks me into a million pieces that
are the bricks to a building being
built on top of the remnants of a
body molded into cement that
was made from the shell of a person who
was tossed aside to use as paint for
the building that
will grow and grow made
from the B R I C K S + P A I N T + C E M E N T from
a person who continued to be built up
& broken
down.
