Senior Economist, Penn Wharton Budget Model
The Wharton School
University of Pennsylvania
I am an economist specializing in public policy, macroeconomics, and household finance. My research focuses on how households insure against health, income, and wealth shocks, using large-scale computational models to analyze healthcare and social insurance policies. Along with my co-author Kent Smetters, I received the 2016 TIAA Paul A. Samuelson Award for our research on optimal annuitization.
Prior to joining Penn, I served as Chief of the Fiscal Policy Analysis Unit in the Congressional Budget Office’s Macroeconomic Analysis Division, where I led the team responsible for dynamic scoring—analyzing the macroeconomic feedback effects of federal fiscal policy. I began my career as an economic consultant at Analysis Group.
