If you want a gasket engineered for imperfect sealing surfaces on classic Ford and Mercury engines, choose Fel-Pro VS 13264; if you need a complete replacement set with stem seals specifically for modern 2.0L or 2.4L Hyundai and Kia powertrains, choose HIHIAV 22441-2GGB0. These two parts serve completely different eras of automotive engineering and vehicle architectures, so the decision isn't about which brand is better in a vacuum, but rather which one fits the specific mechanical reality of your car. I have analyzed the design specifications and intended applications for both to help you make the right call for your daily commute repair without getting lost in marketing fluff.
• Fel-Pro VS 13264: Its biggest strength is the proprietary rubber sealing beads and torque limiters designed to handle imperfect engine block surfaces and prevent overtightening. The trade-off is that it is strictly for older American muscle and truck platforms (1960s–1990s), making it useless for any modern sedan. This pick is for the classic car restorer or owner of vintage Ford/Mercury vehicles who needs factory-grade durability.
• HIHIAV 22441-2GGB0: Its biggest strength is the inclusion of both the valve cover gasket and a stem seal in a reinforced bag-and-box package, tailored specifically for 2015–2020 Hyundai and Kia models. The trade-off is its limited compatibility range, serving only the newer Asian market segments with 2.0L and 2.4L engines. This pick is for the DIY mechanic maintaining a mid-range SUV or sedan from the last decade.
The Fel-Pro VS 13264 is built for a very specific niche of the automotive world: the repair environment where conditions are rarely perfect. Unlike modern mass-produced gaskets that assume a flawless surface, this unit is engineered to seal imperfect sealing surfaces. This is a critical feature for vehicles from the 1970s through the 1990s, where engine blocks may have warped slightly over decades of thermal cycling. The design incorporates molded rubber over a rigid carrier, a construction choice that directly inhibits damage from high heat while maintaining flexibility.
For the owner of a 1989 Laforza, a 1963 Shelby Cobra, or a 1975–1996 Ford F-150, this part offers a level of precision that generic aftermarket options often lack. The inclusion of locating tabs ensures proper alignment during installation, which is a common pain point when working on older engines with tight clearances. Furthermore, the integrated torque limiters are a smart safety feature; they physically help eliminate the risk of overtightening, which can easily lead to gasket splitting or extrusion on brittle, aged components. If you are restoring a vehicle where every bolt matters and the engine bay has seen thirty years of use, this is the component you need.
However, if your vehicle is anything other than a Ford, Mercury, or related classic model from the pre-2000 era, this part will not fit. It is a specialized tool for a specialized job. You should skip this product entirely if you are working on a modern domestic truck, a Japanese import, or a European sedan. The dimensions and mounting points are tied to the specific architecture of those older V8 and inline-six engines. Trying to force this gasket onto a modern engine block would be a waste of time and money, regardless of how robust the rubber compound might be.

The HIHIAV 22441-2GGB0 is designed for the contemporary driver dealing with the specific failure modes of 2.0L and 2.4L turbocharged and naturally aspirated engines found in Hyundai and Kia vehicles. This part addresses a common issue in these modern powertrains by including a stem seal alongside the valve cover gasket. While some competitors sell just the gasket, forcing you to source the seal separately, this set comes as a complete unit count of two pieces per box. This comprehensive approach reduces the chance of missing a critical component during the repair process.
The packaging strategy here reflects a direct response to customer feedback regarding shipping damage. By utilizing a dual-layer "Bag + Box" system, the manufacturer aims to ensure that the gasket arrives intact and that no small parts like stem seals are lost in transit. For the owner of a 2016–2020 Kia Sorento, Optima, or a 2015–2019 Hyundai Sonata, this attention to detail in logistics translates to peace of mind. The gasket itself is an exact replacement for part numbers 22441-2GGB0 and VS50892, ensuring that the fitment aligns with the precise tolerances required by these relatively new engine designs.
This product is ideal for the mechanic who wants a straightforward, all-in-one solution for their daily commuter. If you drive a Santa Fe or Sorento and notice oil leaking from the valve cover area, this kit provides the necessary hardware to fix it without needing to hunt down additional seals. However, if you own a vehicle outside the specified years and makes listed, such as a 2021 model or a Toyota Camry, this part will not work. It is also not suitable for heavy-duty diesel trucks or older classic cars. Stick to this option only if your vehicle falls squarely within the 2015–2020 Hyundai/Kia window with the specified engine displacements.
• Best for Classic American Engines → Fel-Pro VS 13264: If you are restoring a Shelby Cobra, Mustang, or F-150 from the 1960s to the 1990s, the Fel-Pro design features like torque limiters and superior sealing beads are essential for longevity.
• Best for Modern Asian Sedans/SUVs → HIHIAV 22441-2GGB0: For 2015–2020 Hyundai Sonatas, Santa Fes, Kias, or Optimas, the HIHIAV kit provides the exact replacement needed for the 2.0L and 2.4L engines, including the vital stem seal.
• Best for Imperfect Surfaces → Fel-Pro VS 13264: The Fel-Pro gasket is explicitly engineered to seal imperfect sealing surfaces, a feature that is crucial for older engines where warping is common.
• Best for Complete Kit Convenience → HIHIAV 22441-2GGB0: The HIHIAV package includes both the gasket and stem seal in reinforced packaging, reducing the risk of missing parts compared to single-item purchases.
• Best for High-Heat Durability → Fel-Pro VS 13264: The molded rubber over a rigid carrier construction is specifically highlighted to inhibit high heat, a major concern in vintage V8 engines.
• Best for Preventing Overtightening → Fel-Pro VS 13264: Integrated torque limiters on the Fel-Pro unit help eliminate the risk of splitting the gasket during installation, a common mistake with older, brittle materials.
• Best for Daily Commute Reliability (Modern) → HIHIAV 22441-2GGB0: If your daily commute relies on a 2018 Hyundai Sonata, this is the correct, modern-engineered solution to stop leaks and keep the car running smoothly.
• Best for Vintage Project Cars → Fel-Pro VS 13264: The locating tabs and proprietary rubber sealing beads make the Fel-Pro the superior choice for ensuring a clean install on classic machinery.
In my opinion, the choice between these two products is strictly dictated by the year and make of your vehicle because they operate in entirely different universes of automotive engineering. I would buy the HIHIAV 22441-2GGB0 for my own daily commute if I were driving a modern Hyundai or Kia, as the inclusion of the stem seal and the robust packaging makes it the most practical, hassle-free option for a 2015–2020 model. Conversely, if I were working on a classic Ford project car, I would immediately reach for the Fel-Pro VS 13264 because its ability to handle imperfect surfaces and prevent overtightening is unmatched for that specific application. Neither is universally "better"; the winner is simply the one that matches your engine bay perfectly.
No, the Fel-Pro VS 13264 is designed exclusively for Ford, Mercury, and Shelby vehicles from the 1960s through the 1990s. It will not fit modern Hyundai or Kia engines.
