Pyrotechnics: Vuur, rook, explosies, rondvliegend puin.
Goed tegenlicht is heel belangrijk.
– Prothetische make-up: Latex maskers veranderen acteurs in monsters of
beweegt, wapperende haren, wijde kleding of stuivend zand. Regen of
Pyrotechnics: Fire, smoke, explosions, flying debris.
This is often long not as expensive as expected. Although this on the set often looks very spectacular
looks, it can sometimes be a lot tamer in the editing. It is hanging
especially from how it is portrayed. The DoP has to go looking
to the right camera angles, lenses and lighting to make the spectacle
let work. Good backlight is very important.
In post-production CGI adds more fire, smoke, and debris to the explosion or the shot can be merged with other material,
so that it seems that the actors are ducking before the explosion.
Smaller versions of a real object. By playing with the perspective (forced perspective) it can be used in
scenes with real actors. A well-placed miniature Eiffel Tower one few inches from the camera, can create the illusion that the real Eiffel Tower can be seen in the background and the actor is walking around Paris.
In Notorious, Hitchock used a teacup (containing poison) to put it in reality was twice as large, to make it dominant in it shot.
Models are used less and less with the rise of CGI.
– Mechanics: With clever constructions everything can be done on the
second the director wants, from blood spurting from an artificial wound to
a car jumping over a ditch. For difficult, dangerous effects
with car accidents complicated constructions are needed. Often there is
made use of cords, which were placed picture by picture in post-production
be removed.
– Animatronics: Also called action props. moving dolls
depict living beings. They are controlled by radio or a computer. See the first Terminator movie for some impressive ones examples of this.
– Breakaways: Glass (bottles, panes), furniture and pottery, which are sturdy
looks, but breaks easily and exactly in the places like the director that envisions. Very popular for action scenes. Still here to go be handled with care in conjunction with it stunt team. Chairs can be broken on heads and actors can jump through windows, but that can still be painful
result in scratches and bumps.
– Prosthetic makeup: Latex masks turn actors into monsters or they inflict convincing injuries. Here comes the special effects team is very close to the task of makeup and that can sometimes cause friction result if not properly negotiated.
– Weapons: Stabbing with fake knives and gunfights with blanks / blanks need to be prepared carefully, because they are still dangerous. Pieces of metal can get into the barrel of a gun sitting and if that is not properly cleaned in advance and controlled, they can run out of the barrel with deadly speed shot. This led to the tragic death of actor Brandon Lee on the set of the movie The Crow.
– Weather Machines: Rain, fog, wind, snow (falling or on the ground), hail or black ice must all be counterfeited with appropriate ones machinery. To convincingly recreate this is a professional team necessary. The technique of smoke machines, as can sometimes be seen in cheap pop concerts and theater performances are relatively easy to operate, but it will then be abundantly clear that there is a smoke machine is being worked. Only subtle dosage and finesse can get the smoke out show as the director wants. A tip about the size fans that make wind: wind only becomes visible when there is something in it moves, fluttering hair, loose clothing or drifting sand. Rain or snow can be harmful to the sound crew's equipment and they
must be properly shielded.
