Bay City Thunder History

The Bay City Thunder Athletic Organization was established in 2020 in Mobile, AL. Initially, it began with a single team comprising 15 girls. Founded by Victoria Lambert, the organization's vision was inspired by the parents of her former players. Bay City Thunder aims to support young women who are underprivileged, overlooked, and underutilized. Victoria's passion lies in nurturing young ladies, enhancing their skills, boosting their confidence, and empowering them to defy expectations.

Bay City Thunder is recognized as the most cost-effective travel ball program in the city. Through community fundraising efforts and local sponsorships, the organization has managed to keep participation fees low, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder talented young athletes from pursuing their dreams. As Bay City Thunder grew, so did its impact on the community. The program now includes multiple teams across various age groups, each coached by dedicated volunteers who share Victoria's commitment to fostering talent and character.

In 2022, Bay City Thunder grew from 1 team to 10 teams. The organization expanded from girls only to boys and girls! This expansion not only increased the number of young athletes who could benefit from the program but also enriched the community by fostering inclusivity and diversity. By welcoming boys into the fold, Bay City Thunder created a co-ed environment where all young athletes could learn from one another, share experiences, and grow together.

The addition of boys' teams brought fresh energy and new perspectives, challenging coaches and players alike to adapt and innovate. This change was met with enthusiasm and support from the community, who recognized the potential for even greater achievements and camaraderie.

Bay City Thunder became a 501c-3 non-profit organization in 2023.This status not only solidified its commitment to serving the community but also opened up new avenues for funding and support. The transition to a non-profit allowed Bay City Thunder to attract more sponsors and donors, who were eager to contribute to an organization that prioritized the development and empowerment of youth. This change enabled the program to enhance its facilities, provide better resources and training equipment, and offer scholarships to athletes in need.

With its non-profit status, Bay City Thunder was also able to forge stronger partnerships with local businesses and educational institutions, creating a network of support that extended beyond the playing field. These collaborations have been instrumental in organizing workshops and mentorship programs, where athletes can gain insights from professionals in various fields, broadening their horizons and preparing them for future success.

The organization is led by an executive board. Comprising passionate individuals with diverse backgrounds, the board is united by a shared commitment to the organization's mission. Each member brings unique expertise, from strategic planning and community outreach to financial management and program development. Together, they ensure that Bay City Thunder remains aligned with its core values while adapting to the evolving needs of its athletes.

The executive board meets regularly to discuss the organization's progress, set new goals, and devise strategies to overcome challenges. Their leadership has been instrumental in guiding the program through periods of growth and change, always with a focus on creating a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.

Under their guidance, Bay City Thunder has not only expanded its athletic offerings but also introduced initiatives aimed at personal development and community engagement. These include workshops on leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, as well as opportunities for athletes to volunteer and give back to the community.

The dedication and vision of the executive board, along with the tireless efforts of coaches, volunteers, and supporters, have positioned Bay City Thunder as a pillar of strength and inspiration within the community. As the organization moves forward, it remains committed to empowering young athletes to excel both in sports and in life, fostering a legacy of excellence and inclusivity for generations to come.

As Bay City Thunder continues to evolve, it remains dedicated to its mission of inclusivity and growth, ensuring that every young athlete has the opportunity to thrive in a supportive and dynamic environment. The organization looks forward to many more years of making a positive impact, not just in sports, but in the lives of all those it touches.
