Overview

FeedFriction is a browser extension that modifies the visual display of Instagram in your browser. This privacy policy explains what data the extension accesses, what it stores, and what it does not do.

Data

Data we collect

FeedFriction collects no data. The extension does not transmit any information to any server, service, or third party.

Data stored locally

FeedFriction stores the following settings in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local), which remains on your device at all times:

• Whether you have completed the initial setup

• Your preferred re-hide delay (a number between 5 and 300 seconds)

• Which areas of Instagram you have chosen to filter

• A temporary timestamp used to implement the pause feature

None of this information is linked to your identity, your Instagram account, or any other personal data. It is used solely to apply your chosen settings within the extension. All locally stored data can be permanently deleted by uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser's extension data.

Data we do not collect

FeedFriction does not collect, access, transmit, or store:

• Your Instagram username, password, or account information

• The content of posts, captions, messages, or media you view

• Your browsing history or activity on any website

• Any analytics, usage statistics, or telemetry

• Any personally identifiable information of any kind

Permissions

FeedFriction requests the following browser permissions:

• Storage: Used to save your media filtering settings locally on your device. We do not sync this data to external servers.

• Host Permissions (instagram.com): Used to detect when you are on Instagram so we can apply your settings and perform a one-time setup redirect after installation.

Third parties

FeedFriction does not share data with any third party. It does not use analytics services, advertising networks, or any external APIs.

Security

Since FeedFriction never transmits data over the internet, your settings are protected by your browser’s built-in security features. We recommend keeping your browser updated to the latest version.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the version date above will be updated. Because no data is collected, changes would only reflect permission changes or new local features.
