The Sun Prairie Area Treaty Organization (Organisation du Traité de la région de Soleil Prairie), often called by it's acronym of SPATO, is a military organization of several SPN states, designed as a large defense bloc against "new nations" aggression. It, alongside the Prairie Union advocates cooperation and mutual defense. It was re-established during the Second Great Prairie War for defense after the war ended.

Mutual Defense is the largest portion of the SPATO's existence, however it often also assists in the solving of disputes and peacekeeping missions.

Member States

SPATO's major purpose is to provide collective assistance for nations that are at significant risk of invasion or cannot face a major power alone. The United Federation and Despa, with their combined military, are the only major nations that would be able to genuinely defend against a military threat from any outside major power. Pyrrhia, the New Nations, New Washburn, Crimson Dusk, and New Glarus are almost entirely dependent on SPATO's mutual defense policy.

SPATO General Secretary John B.G. said, "There is nothing that can force the United Federation and Despa to join in a war to defend a country like the New Nations. This alliance makes sure that every country that might wish any nation harm must know that our allies will be defended as if it was our own soil."

When asked whether an attack on one SPATO member was without question an attack on all, Federation President Calvin Petri responded, "Yes, absolutely, immediately."
