Basic Rundown:
Federation Registered Firestar 301 was destroyed by Coalition member Shawna Wilson.
The "Firestar Crisis" was the first real test of the bonds of the Coalition and the Federation. The incident almost resulted in war, and was a tense series of days. Many refer to it as the Federation/Coalition version of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
The War with the Granache was practically over, and the Federation and Coalition were once again at odds over their territorial and other disputes. Among these was the fact that the Coalition had a tiny amount of territory located within the territory of Eastside, a Federation Air Base.
While it is true that the Coalition had territory in Eastside, it is also true that this territory was so minuscule it is unlikely anything larger than a Toyota Corolla would fit in it.
The Federation and Coalition were often seen as natural adversaries, and the pairing almost matches that of the Cold War. The Coalition was communist and despite having "elections" for a 2nd prime minister, the Founder, Liam Kerl, was always in command. The Federation, on the other hand, was a democratic government, with a new president being chosen each 9 months. While some members could always have political and influential prevalence, the power was with the people. This is very similar to the cold war scenario, right down to the ideology.
The crisis began on () when a Federation Firestar (F-301) fly what was apparently a little too close to Coalition Member Mackenzie S. This was noticed by fellow member Shawna Wilson, close friend of Mackenzie, who, after searching for a while, found the landed Firestar and ripped it up. The plane was, unfortunately, commanded by none other than Vice-President John Banks George, who ordered and immediate meeting of the High Command of the Federation.
