Quote(s):
Being President was so fun for me, because whenever we’d walk to choir you all would be in a posse and I felt like the President. And Caleb and you were talking about something; You’d say, “Here's what happened, here's the problem.” And I’d say “Well Solve It!”
Ainsley Paige Wall was a United Federation politician, stateswoman, military commander and Founding Father who is best known for serving two consecutive terms as the 2nd President of the United Federation. Taking office after John Banks-George, Ainsley Wall was the first woman elected the President of the Federation, and the longest serving President in the history of the Federation; serving for 8 months from August 2017 to March 2018. Her tenure in office represented a massively important phase of politics and history, during which the Federation and the Sun Prairie Nations more largely underwent a series of consecutive crises and power shifts, and her leadership during these periods is considered one of the great political victories of any President in Federation History.
During her first term in office she did much to continue the government establishment of the new nation, adding the High Command as the first legislature, and creating the first cabinet position, Secretary of the Navy. She also completed the process of creating States, Provinces, and Territories for individual citizens in the Federation. Throughout her term, she continued to work on the upkeep of the Federation military, helping with establishment of the Marine Corps and the Navy, and being the primary driver behind the first major Fleet Modernization Program for the Starfleet. She personally led combat troops in the Granache War, most notably in the Battle of Carriage Hills. Her first term was defined by the creation of new nations, and her administrations open suspicion towards them, most famously against the Coalition of the North.
In her second election, she beat Caleb Damask, being the first Federation President to win a second consecutive term, during which she continued her policies until the election of Ethan Moehr. However, during the second half of her second term, the debate between whether the Federation was a social club or a proper nation reached fever pitch, and John Banks-George attempted to quell this debate by seperating the Federation from the New Republic. This short-lived state was created after confusion arose from her statements about the number of rules and complicated systems that were quickly growing across the Sun Prairie Nations. Whilst in reality she and her close advisor Calvin Petri only wanted to reach a decision between the arguments, she was greatly disappointed by John Banks-George going past her authority and speaking to the High Command without her; something that had already occured at least once.
Wall continued to lead the Federation, but without any major political actions until she was succeeded by Ethan Moehr. In the Very Messy Time, her leadership kept the Federation together as a club, allowing it to return to a nation just as quickly as it's recognition was removed. Nevertheless, corruption and favor trading had begun to take hold among the High Command; Wall herself has never been included in this corruption, and it is likely she did not know of it taking place.
Ainsley was for a time, a somewhat controversial figure in Federation Politics, being seen by many as both a hero and a villain of the Federation's History. Many of her policies have garnered significant modern controversy, specifically her hostility to new nations. Defenders of the policy argue that this was largely due to the fact that most nations at the time were completely new and largely unknown entities, unlike the close ties many nations share today. Her presidential requirements act was also largely controversal, and was repealed in early 2019. It is also worth noting that the height of her dispopularity came after a period of constant conflict under President Conner Zink, who said that he based his policies on hers, and also while she was part of the MRD, a nation that opposed the Federation for a time. In more recent times, her reputation has significantly rebounded and she is now one of the most popular former Presidents.
Ainsley Wall joined the United Federation on the 26th of May, 2017, the day after the nation was founded. She was the 7th member to join. She joined largely because her newer friendships with other members such as John Banks-George and Calvin Petri. The start of her military career began with the enlistment into the United Federation Fighter Corps, as a Commodore and later a General. She is one of only three Presidents who were previously Generals before they came into office.
During the War on Noah she gained renown as a talented commander and as a major figure in the military for her tactics against the Noah Rebellion. She was the last General to command a Sparrow squadron, until her rank was changed to Fleet Admiral and she took command of the 2nd Cruiser Division, 1st Fleet. It was during this time that the Federation's second election was scheduled for September and her interest in politics increased.
Ainsley Wall declared her candidacy for the Presidency the same day as her biggest opponent, Ryan Madden. Due to both of their ties to the early Federation, the two had very similar campaigns and both sought the support of President Banks-George. However, he decided not to endorse anyone for the Presidential election, and waited for democracy to run it's course.
Ainsley Wall was seen quickly advancing in the polls, whilst Ryan Madden lost much of his early momentum due to campaign gaffes and failures during discussions about what he would do as President. Seeing this, Ryan Madden dropped out of the race, leaving Ainsley to pick up most of his voters, though some peeled off to the other remaining candidate Luke Fischer.
The election ended in a landslide for Ainsley Wall. She won over 70% of the Vote, with the remainder mostly going to Luke Fischer. He conceded the election the same day, and Ainsley Wall was sworn in on the 4th of September. The War on Noah had ended earlier that day with the Treaty of Noon, and as such she took office as a Peacetime President.
Ainsley began with several programs that had been started under her predecessor, and appointed Vice President, John B.G. She started by implementing the High Command, the Federation's first legislature. However, in actuality it functioned more like a cabinet, with all six members being appointed by the President. Her initial High Command was made up of Jacob Monday, Calvin Petri, Jacob Eiden, Carson Clumpner, Ethan Moehr, and Daniel Wendt. The High Command would change three times throughout her 7 months in office.
She also set about establishing the systems of territory that effectively created the Sun Prairie Nation's way of dividing territory. This included the creation of States, Provinces, and Territories. The system eventually abolished provinces, and by the end of Ainsley's term in office there would be 37 states, although none of them would correspond to modern-day states.
In addition, with the end of the War on Noah she began the Fleet Re-armament program which decommissioned many older frigates and unsuccessful designs and replaced them with new ships and more Lexington-class and Essex-class. The most numerous of these new ships would be the Manona-class.
In mid-October, the Coalition of the New Students, which had advocated for an elected high command and greater representation for the new generation members, declared independence. Ainsley Wall was sick on that day, and as such John B.G. was acting as President. He allowed the Coalition to leave the Federation peacefully, rather than opt for a civil war that would likely have ended in the destruction of the new nation.
When Ainsley Wall returned, the Mountain Nation of Salamandastron and the Republic of Valentino had been created and Ainsley Wall was angered by the development. She nearly fired the Vice-President, however opted not to because of the perceived optics of firing the first President.
With this, the Federation formed an alliance with Salamandastron and Valentino, which is regarded as the first step towards the eventual creation of SPATO nearly a year-and-a-half later.
The Granache Tribe announced it's territorial ambitions later that month through Ryan Madden, and the High Command approved a declaration of War. With this, Ainsley Wall became one of only three presidents to lead combat troops in a war during their term, the others being John B.G. and Conner Zink. She led troops in the Battle of Carriage Hills and directed the offensives into the Brazee Province and other occupied territories. With the Federation Victory, she significantly jumped in popularity.
Ainsley Wall won re-election by a smaller margin than her first election, with around 60% of the Vote against Caleb Damask, her nearest competitor. With this, she became the first and only President of the United Federation to win a second consecutive term, though Banks-George would eventually win a second term far later.
During her second term the Federation's "national split" ended with the establishment of the New Republic of Patrick Marsh and the Club Federation. She retained her post in the Federation until the end of the election of Ethan Moehr, though she was a far less active President.
After the September War she became the Prime Minister of the Midnight Republic. Shortly after this, she joined Alexander Oherline in the 1st Despa War against the Federation. After the end of the Battle of Eastside, she and Alex lost the war, but founded the Midnight Republic of Despa with their new territory. Following the dissolution of the M.R.D. at the end of the Second Despa War, she became the Prime Minister of the Midnight Republic again.
The Midnight Republic re-named itself to Dauntless shortly before the outbreak of the First Great Prairie War. During the war Dauntless was originally neutral, but thanks to the healing efforts that Nicholas Lapord had initiated earlier with the former-M.R.D., she eventually brought Dauntless to war on the Union's side. At the end of the war, Dauntless, under Wall, became a major proponent of a united Sun Prairie.
With the creation of the Prairie Union, Duantless joined, however it was shortly disbanded due to internal political strife. The Federation gained the land of Dauntless. However, after the end of the Second Great Prairie War, Ainsley Wall became the queen of the newly founded Kingdom of Pyrrhia, the title she retains to this day.
