plasticine and claymation

The project was claymation animation made with plasticine, a lot of it! But also since we had a lot of textures, the walls of the buildings, the floor tiles and pavements, I had again to work like we did with Palmieri ground, with pre cut textures, I had to 3d texturize them, give them shade, then higlight the tiles with dry bush acrylics.

termocasts and resin casts for the roofs

To make the roofs I did a mix of casts starting from real miniature tiles that I composed onto a layer of plasticine to make them stable and without undercuts. Then I did a negative mould in silicone and then used the first resin positives to reproduce them with sheets of theermo plastic with the thermoforming machine.

I had also the pleasure to texturize and color the ground tiles, as long as the facades of the houses with my collegues. And in the end, a little of colouring the face replacements for the main character puppet.

Background experiments

Experimenting with different styles and compositions, I took a frame of background from a live action product and reimnagined it trhoug the style of a cartoon series, comic or animated movie I particularly like.

hocus pocus's burgers

The house of the Sanderson sisters is an iconic set from the '90 Halloween culture. I imagined a Bob's Burger episode where the Belchers are facing the Sanderson Curse in Salem. SO here you have a shot from the morning of the 31th of October, just an old house closed and abandoned. Instead, during the night, the windows shine of a sinister candle light and the lantern on the front dor is lit, meaning that inside someone is brewing a potion.
